People. Not voters. If both players have great statistical games and Daniels wins and Baker loses then I expect to see people on BGP saying "well, Daniels is playing against 1A schools. He should have those stats and he should win all of his games. He's an SEC player. Baker did it against the best team in 4A and even though he lost he played better competition and did it against better players."

It's not a valid argument, but ok.

I think both are primed for big games this week. Kash & Q are playing like young men possessed this season.

 

Predictions: Baker goes for 150yds and 2 TDs on 20 carries and has a big play on special teams in a losing effort. Kash has 220yds of total offense and 3 TDs in addition to 15+ tackles and a sack on defense in a winning effort.

 

If the above predictions turn out to be correct, Kash emerges from this weekend as a clear frontrunner(assuming he's not already).

 

However, if Baker goes off for 200+ and 4 TDs and Ashland wins, he's clearly in the driver's seat, IMO. I think Ashland getting a win over JC counts way more toward Q's Mr. Football standing than it does for Kash beating Raceland.

 

I don't necessarily think that this is a make or break week for both of these players because Ashland and Paintsville, regardless of this Friday's outcomes, will likely have more spotlight games ahead of them.

Kash Dainel can play any position on the field. One could argue that maybe he couldn't play OL at the top 6A schools in the state, but other than that he could. He has size, height, strength and great speed but the difference for me is he plays super physical. Not all kids that have came through the state with his abilities over years play as hardnose like he does.

He is used more as a change of pace back, runs some, passes some and hands the ball to Kent Phelps a lot. On defense, you could be right, he could have 15 tackles.

Kash Daniels and Quinton Baker don't show the same speed and quickness as Jacob Smith from Newcath. I don't get all the hype towards those two, both play poor schedules and seem over rated to me.

 

So your saying Jacob Smith is faster than Baker. Baker ran a 4.29 in the 40. I doubt that there is anyone in this state that can match that. There are very few college teams that have one guy that can run that fast.

Yea, he's overrated.

I have never seen Daniel play, so of course my loyalty is with Baker. I would say that Quinton can effect a game faster than any other player in the state. Obviously on offense he can go the distance on any play. He has proven valuable on defense, with forced fumbles, big hits, deflections, an INT and defensive touchdown. When kicked to on special teams he can be deadly as well. I also think the level of competition he faces is tougher as well.

I agree with the poor schedule argument. Neither Ashland nor Paintsville have the toughest schedules in the world. About 3 teams with winning records for each as of right now. I vote Kash. Just a better all around football player.

Both special kids. I've beaten Trinity, highlands, bowling green, Scott co etc. I get the 1A talk but Kash Daniels is unlike any QB I've ever seen in High School. He's a specimen! Might be the hardest working kid I've ever been around. All adrenaline on the field as good as I've seen off the field with younger kids giving his time. My nephew is #11 Trimble. He had a 5TD 2 ️️game stretch and 5 int's in a 5 ️game span. Phelps might be D1 back too. Been fun watching this group of Sr's. Kids like Kash, Trimble, Childers had to start both ways Varsity since Freshmen year. Got beat to death. 15 players dressed at the end of the yr that yr. Talk of the program being done. This group has worked their tail off and stuck together. Pretty awesome seeing them reap what they sewed. Still Racelands District until somebody knocks them off. Pikeville loaded in the Region.

Gotten to know Q a little over the years. Like is Dad he can straight burn a track up. Excited both kids are getting statewide credit.

I look at it this way... Raceland's coming into this game knowing that they need a win to force a 3 way tie and avoid getting the 3 seed. I expect the Rams to play better than most others are, which could force Paintsville to lean on Kash a little more than usual on offense.
