Maybe Boyle and Belfry are a lot closer than most thought.

The squib kicks are because of JJ Ogbagu & Andy Thompson create a lot of problems to a kickoff unit.

I wish Boyle County fans would be a little more positive. They can take this game and say if they catch a few more balls then they don't settle for field goals. I was a little surprised at what I saw from the Boyle rushing attack. That's key for them heading into November.

And finally no one will remember what took place in October, it's all about postseason success.

I agree with some of what you have said, but the squid kick was not all about JJ Ogabagu & Andy Thompson. Boyle has been doing this all year because the kick coverage team is not that good.

There was that one guy......

Yep....always that one guy! :walk:

Boyles inability to convert red zone visits into TD's is the difference in the game. Kudos to kicker Josh Robbins for hitting his first 3 FG's of the year for Boyle to keep it close. The hook and ladder call by Lex Cath was a ballsy call and unfortunately for Rebel fans was the nail in the coffin.

These two teams are so competitively close in athletic ability and great coaching that this matchup is always going to be close. Don't ever forget that.

Now Boyle has to regroup, get healthy, and finish the regular season with a vengeance and get prepared for the tough, tough, playoff road ahead.

As much as it pains me to say, congrats to Lex Cath on the win.

I've always called it a hook-and-lateral. Because, well, that's what it is. Hook and ladder is a fire truck.

Have I missed something all these years?

If you're Boyle County you can look at this game and say we needed this loss. It's a reality check.

Boyle County didn't execute as well as they could have on offense and couldn't contain the speed on Lexington Catholic. The rematch, which I predict will happen, will be very interesting and I won't miss that one.

BTW, which Lexington Catholic fan is going to serve me my crow? I prefer it well done if I get the choice of choosing.

Rall used to call it "Princeton Pass."

Wooldridge called it "flea flicker".

I've always heard it called a hook and ladder.

From Wikipedia (for what it's worth):

The "hook and lateral" is sometimes referred to as a "hook and ladder." The play is referred to as the "hook and ladder" on the cover of EA Sports NCAA Football 2008, possibly because the term has been incorrectly used commonly by sportscasters, coaches and fans for years.

Here is the hook and ladder (or hook and lateral) play.

Nice play. The catch and lateral is a great play.
