My point is a small school of less than 250 students, going against big 4A school is not a walk in the park...and we know it. It sounds like you are either jealous, or bitter..I cant tell which one. I can understand if you dont want to root for us, and thats fine, but you need to get over the fact that we won. I could care less what antics your coach pulls (to try and get an advantage ) so him throwing balls across the field doesnt bother me one bit. So have a nice summer, and maybe we will see you again next year...

Good luck to Beechwood. It sounds like a win against Christian County would still make the people from Harrison County mad. That is reason enough to win all by its self.

Maybe his point is this....Beechwood has shown in the last three or four years that they to can compete with the big boys, not only in football, but baseball as well. When your Team is headed to Applebee's Park for the 3rd time in as many years, it's special. Playing there once would be awesome, and there are 100's of High School players in Ky. that will never get that opportunity. The only way you can win a State Championship and "rings" is by getting there. That part has been accomplished, join me some time next weekend for "the rest of the story."

 

I do know this though. Win or lose, the Tigers, nor than fans, will not be so bitter, and or sore losers, toward the Team who may happen to knock them out.

Agree 100%! Last year I was rooting for Cov Cath after they beat Beechwood in the regional finals, the year before that Trinity after they beat the Tigers. Only this fall did I root for a team that knocked Beechwood out of the football playoffs, as I was wanting NCC to win as they are from Beechwood's district.

:thumb: Amen, sticky mitts,Amen. (during the break between half innings)...that is the proper way to handle returning balls to the plate umpire. If the previous descriptions of this act were accurate,this coach's lack of respect for the authority of the umpires was evident with his "statement". (A funny thought, this action reminds me of an animal "marking" his territory.) IMO,if I had been one of the umpires present during this action, I would have considered this an attempt to "show me up". Living legend or not, a coach doing something similar to this in one of my games gets a very public warning :irked: , and based on his response, confinement to the dugout, or a trip to his car (:walk: ) to listen to the remainder of the game on the radio. (NOTE:I've never met the aforementioned coach personally so I'm speaking theoretically here about a coach "type" that is described in this thread by other posters). And,before, anyone says I'm too thin-skinned, this is all about who the ultimate authority on the field is,whether we want to be or not). Some umpires (like some coaches) take pleasure in proving this point to the public, I do not. It has been my experience that coaches that like to play these "undermining" tricks typically employ a number of "minor" displays that have an additive effect during a game (or even a season). Then, when we decide that the last straw has buckled our camel's knees, the claim is always that we've overreacted. :argue: Coaches that historically act in ways such as the situation discussed, are always looking for an "edge", and an umpire that might be intimidated on that game deciding banger. And, sadly, it sometimes works....which reinforces their behavior. Alas, it's not a perfect world. :lol:

For not knowing the coach, you are dead on. It was a total bush league move and everyone knows it. Trying to gain a mental edge with tactics like this are totally different than putting on a play that is within the rules of the game. It's common sense folks. Like was stated earlier, the coaches come to expect it and (if they're smart) choose to ignore it.

Also, the call at third which caused BW's coach to argue was a bad call. HC's coach was on the field before time was called as well arguing the runner advancing. All in all, HC picked up an out it shouldn't have had---they have no argument on that one.

The statement was meant in jest.....and, I do not know this particular coach, but I know the "type" described. I hope they're taking their "meds" :jump: on the day I draw one of them....

Hey Beechwood fans I have a question for you all. I didn't have a gun on either of them, but it appeared that Moore throws harder then Curley. Is that accurate? I know Curley only threw a little the first time they played Harrison, but he appeared to be faster then than he was in June. Has he had any arm problems? As far as the state goes, I like the depth of your staff, but the bracket you are in will be very tough to advance from. Lex Catholic has to be smiling. Should be a good tournament as always and the atmosphere at Applebee's Park is second to none. Good luck to your Tigers.

:sssh: HT,Not that it makes any difference to anyone but YOU, but I've called bigger games than this coach will ever be in....but it doesn't really matter, because coaches of his described type almost never get to the really "big" games. And, if by chance they do, it's not because of their superior "gamesmanship", it's because they've got an automatic "feeder" system and great assistants. Longevity is not a mark of a great coach, just a great politician. Coaches such as the one described, don't lift teams up, they drag them down. Bobby Knight comes to mind....
