Auburn is Auburn, and Kentucky is Kentucky. UK has shown improvements this season by winning on the road in the SEC. They need to continue to make those strides before people will just assume they'll beat a down Auburn team. UK could absolutely beat Auburn and I wouldn't be that surprised, but to just say Auburn sucks and that UK is going to win based on little to nothing is a little premature.

Given his inexperience as well as his ability to make bad decisions I think that plays into UK's hands. UK has shown that they are capable of rising to the occasion and playing above average defense against SEC teams this year also. Auburn doesn't suck but the fact that they are coming into town and folks feel like UK should win the game speaks volumes as to where Auburn's football program is this year. Cam Newton and Nick Marshall ain't walking through that door.

I'm sure some UK fans won't admit it but I bet they'd be happy with the last five years of football if UK had UL's recent success. At the very least UL defeated Floridarecently and it wasn't a "down" Florida team.

Not picking on GetSlow, at all, he is one of this site's finest by a lot, but Auburn was highly ranked, and Jeremy Johnson was a Heisman contender. They get blitzed AT LSU, and lose a close (and ugly) game at home to Mississippi State, now they are death warmed over. If Auburn had played UK, in Commonwealth, in week #1, Auburn would have been about an 8.5 / 9 point favorite.

 

I don't think they stink or are down all of a sudden, but Johnson has been bad and the Tigers have under-achieved. I still think they are good enough to win this game (and will), but I certainly don't fault those UK fans for thinking they have a chance.

Auburn gets the "Auburn sucks" business because they have played so far below expectations so far. They began the season as a top 10 team and I don't think they are even ranked now. While I don't think they suck but at the same time by today's standards their fall from grace so quickly has brought that "Auburn sucks" mentality to their front door.

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that they've looked pretty poor in their wins as well. Not to say Kentucky hasn't, because they have, just that it seems Kentucky is on a level playing field with this year's Auburn team. With it being in Lexington, I think Kentucky has more than a fighter's chance.

I don't think they will blow them out either. But just as you say Auburn hasn't done anything to show they can do that, UK hasn't done anything to show that they can beat Auburn, IMO.

True. But on August 31 the expectations was that Auburn would be 2-0 after those games. Given that they are 0-2 in those games and haven't looked nearly as good as we thought they would it changes the perception of them.

I believe that UK can win this game. Since we needs facts to support our optimism: UK held the 8th ranked Florida Gators to 14 points, and half of those came after an INT which lead to a 19 yard scoring drive. When not playing the Wildcats the Gators are scoring 35.8 ppg. Auburn has not lived up to preseason hype and is only averaging 15 ppg vs. SEC opponents compared to UK at 18.7 ppg. While there is not guarantee that UK will win, they certainly appear to have as much chance to win this game as any other game on the schedule this season. If UK gets good play fro the QB, I think that they will get it done on Thursday night.

I thought Auburn came in overrated. Look at last season and this one. What big win do they have? They beat an overrated Ole Miss team. Win vs. 8-6 LSU. Lost to Wisky in a bowl game. I just haven't seen them do anything that makes me think "Wow this team is really good."

 

Because UK is UK, I wouldn't be surprised if they lose but that really goes for any game. IMO, there is nothing to be intimidated of with this Auburn team.

This game is scary for UK fans because Auburn is down and there is a lot of talk that UK will beat the struggling Tigers; very similar to the Florida game. UK has to be able to stay in the moment and not make the situation bigger than it is. If they can be consistent, which is the theme for this team this year, they will have a great opportunity to improve their SEC standing and send the Tigers back to Auburn falling further and further from their preseason expectations. I'm going to go with UK in this one...Towles gets into a nice rhythm and is able to play with the consistency fans have been expecting. The defensive side of the ball Josh Forrest and Co. step up big and slow down Auburn's running game just enough to make key stops.
