Apparently you think the answer to any question about Highlands has something do with Cooper. The blunt reality is, that a school with no tradition, no state championships, no signature wins could not be any more irrelevant than it currently is. If you want to hang your hat on district championships or whatever, that's great. But I don't see a time, ever, where Cooper even comes close to smelling the level of program Highlands is. if you want to beat your chest in every thread for the rest of the season about beating Highlands during a historically bad season, you have every right to. But don't get it twisted, Cooper isn't nor will they ever be, anything close to what Highlands is.

Huh? You can go back almost two years ago and research. I was one of the first HHS fans (along with Raiderbird) to tell you that this year, the talent depth would be down. I had no idea how it would effect them, but many of us knew that and said it right here on BGP...several times. We took a lot of slack over it!!!

 

We talked and you and a couple others said your only concern was at the QB position and that was true. Yet you and Qryche knowing that also predicted huge lopsided win over Cooper. That is my point, that even you all didn't know the birds would be this bad.

Oh no you don't, for years, Mueller wanted for Highlands to be a top 25 NATIONAL Team, so they played teams from Florida, Penn. Ohio, etc. now that Highlands is down it want's to play the card of travel distance? That's embarrassing to each poster on these boards. The bottom line is, Mueller retired because he knew he had nothing coming up or in the pipe line, and wanted to go out on top. Again this ain't rocket science.

 

When did Highlands ever play a team from Penn? NEVER They played the first team from Florida because someone backed out of a game and they were looking for an opponent. The coach at that Florida school was a college teammate of TJ Kramer and that is how the discussions started. The other Florida team came about pretty much the same way in that Highlands had a hole in their schedule and posted it nationally when they could not put something together in state.

 

Just telling it like it is there chief. Do you know why Ryle discontinued playing Highlands in the last year of the times they were playing each other home and home? I will tell you why. Coach Warner was upset that Dale sent some of his players into the locker room to take off their shoulder pads and to get raincoats on because of the weather conditions and the score of the game. This was not the first time that there were issues with this type of thing being done at Highlands. Warner felt it was disrespectful to his team and program and thus the series was not renewed.

I will disagree with something you said in here on several occasions and that is this "class". Are you really trying to say that one "class" is the reason for the record to be what it is? If so, I would say you are totally wrong on that. Did not realize that one "class" could have so much impact on a team sport where 11 play at all times. Past teams did not win or lose because of one "class". Think about that for a minute and I think you may see what I am getting at.

 

No and I was afraid you were gonna take it that way. I'm saying that it's possible that a program can take the demeanor of one senior class. I have no idea if that's the case or not. But you are typically led by seniors and underclassman can take a "followers" role until it's their turn to lead. Again, I have no idea if that's the case with this group at all. And I'm not talking about individuals. I'm talking about 30-35 kids leading the demeanor. I know for a fact they have great kids and some outstanding athletes and leaders in this group. But sometimes thats not enough when it starts going south. It definitely has not gotten better as the year has progressed, so in my opinion, that has a little to do with the reaction of the kids playing. Whether that's the senior leadership, the coaching motivation or what...it appears to have gotten worse as they continue to lose.

 

I know where you're going with it and I couldn't agree more. My opinion, if you put the right guys on the field and forget about the platooning and past strategies and take your chances on whether they can make it through the entire game...even against large teams...then this team would have been and can be very competitive with anyone on their schedule this year...past or future. My hope is that the past 6 games were used as scrimmages and tests to see who can step up in the end. I just hope this group didn't take too big of a confidence hit to pull themselves out of it when it counts.

This is the very first post on this subject from any Highlands fan that actually makes sense and isn't riddled with conspiracy and chest thumping. This makes perfect sense.

 

For those that continue to think it's on all the other NKY teams and continue to believe Highlands in the past had nothing to do with not scheduling NKY teams,you may need to read JOAT's post.

You wanted to know what Cooper who you so brillantly just trashed in a single post, be proud of that, has to do with Highlands this year. It has everything to do with Highlands this year when you and some others talk about how everyone all of a sudden knew Highlands was going to be horrible this year yet when you had a chance to actually say that before any games were played, and with your wealth of knowledge about the team, continued to predict blowouts over Cooper as well as just about every other team they played in the first 3 weeks of the season.

So had a chance to watch some film last night with other father's and I have to say some of it is comical. There's really no rhyme or reason why we are 1-6. I read the Ft.Thomas matters article and in that they are using every excuse they can on why the team is losing. So we decided a couple of us would get together and watch some film. The first thing that sticks out is you bring players in and have them make a play or 2 then remove them, Second playing boy's like this does nothing hence the reason why we could be losing? Several player's stuck out while watching the films and they are 33,54,55,41,74,52,12,59,35,5,10,44,8,24,27,and 98 which is a beast. and I wonder why some are playing JV when they are obviously great players. We do not need these boy's on JV however they could be a huge asset on Varsity if used from what we have seen so why are they not being used at all or little at best? That would be the question I would be asking anyone who is in the know with this Varsity program?

Maybe...we'll never know. But I'm not sure why HHS would travel all over the state if they had quality competition in their own backyard that would play them. It's VERY expensive to cart 100 football players all over the state. That was not funded by the school. So I'm sure it wasn't fun to have to raise that money every year! But they did what they had to do to get games in. Again, I have NO IDEA, but don't act like it unrealistic.

WOW, very defensive about the playing teams out of state to help there national ranking I see. You got my point, I think. As far as the locker room thing with Warner, there isn't another NKY coach who would have been happy with what Dale did either. BTW Ryle did beat your beloved Bluebirds during that run as well, and that's the REAL reason Highlands didn't want to renew the contract, welcome to the reality that is Highlands football right now, and a program on the way down, enjoy the ride!

First, who did they play from Penn?? Second, did HHS ever travel to FLA??? And when did we start talking in this thread as to why Mueller retired??? But I'll ask you, then why isn't he still teaching and the AD??? Oh yea, it's because he wanted to retire.

I think it says more about your program, that you value beating a team who is having a historically bad season so much. But hey, if beating a team that is currently 1-4, is the cornerstone of your programs existence, then so be it.

Hardly any school systems pay for busing.
