Carson Says a Muslim Should not be President

This is another one of those circumstances where people know someone's views, then go into outrage mode when they say them.

Not entirely true. I didn't know Carson hated Muslims. :D

Unless a candidate is a fundamentalist I don't weigh their religious beliefs when deciding who vote for, their beliefs should be private.

I would vote for a moderate Muslim before I would vote for Huckabee.

Oh HELL YEAH!

Well, as the New Yorker said today, Carson is shattering stereotypes about brain surgeons being smart.

I've seen Carson in person. He had already shattered that stereotype for me. He rambled for 45 min about his poor upbringing and tossed in three or four cracks about our black President to pander to the mostly evangelical conservative audience. This man will never be President.

I have not read the article or the thread, but I assume that whatever he said is probably being taken out of context and probably blown into proportion.

But even if the above is wrong, I don't think he ever had a true chance to win. Carson is a good candidate, but I don't think he shows enough passion or aggressiveness in his campaign. JMO.

Can someone post a link where Carson states he will "eliminate welfare, food stamps, and pell grants"? If true I would have a hard time voting for him.

I'm heavily reliant on Pell Grants for my two sons in college and I have two more kids in HS that hope to utilize them as well.

Thanks.

I don't claim that meme to be true. I was just posting what is going around Faceboon amongst democrats. We both know a lot of those memes from both sides are loose with the truth.

I'll see if I can find something though.

I am headed out and only had time to find this:

"The most indigent people in our society already are eligible for Pell Grants. So we're not even talking about them. We're talking about the middle class and above," Carson said in the interview embedded above. "What ever happened to working and working your way through? Is there anything wrong with that? I don't think so. I think we need to start emphasizing these things again. It builds character. It builds experience."

Carson also says we should be "looking at ways to reduce student debt...but not in ways that's going to drive [the national debt]." Carson pointed to reforms that would make the student loan system more efficient.
