September 21, 201511 yr The above is why pro QBs have to make so much money as fast as possible. Overreaction of fans. Is it an overreaction if I've held the same viewpoint since last season? Please stop calling me a fan, I'm not one. It Towles was from any other state, the vast majority of people on here would be ready to run him out of town. He's a KY kid therefore people make him out to be much better than he truly is.
September 21, 201511 yr Why not? I don't think he's ready and I don't believe Stoops or Dawson believes he is either. If PT stinks up the Mizzu game then the season is lost and maybe give him a try.
September 21, 201511 yr Saying he is "awful" is the problem with fans. He's way past that point already IMO. I'm admitedly a homer, just like my friend Clyde...to that point. If anyone can watch a UK football game and tell me that: 1) The offensive play calling is on par with the type of talent you have on the field 2) That a receiver dropping a pass through his hands in the endzone is the QB's fault 3) One of the better plays of the game wasn't a 33 yard run by the QB ....then we are watching different games and have a much different interpretation of football strategy.

Let's be totally honest here....it's UK football. Best case scenario they get a trip to Nashville at the end of the year, that is a win. In fairness, it would appear that many are ready to run him out of town, but that is expected with UK football, isn't it ? I don't really hold out that much expectation for anything that goes on in Lexington except a great Saturday afternoon party...

As a football analyst said today regarding play-calling: When your QB struggles with accuracy, your line struggles stopping the pash rush, and your receivers are inconsistent, and your D is hanging in there and keeping the score close you go to conservative mode. There were 3 passes in the end zone that should have been TDs. Baker dropped one. PT missed two.
September 21, 201511 yr Maybe Stoops and Co. know the offensive line isn't that good, and throwing Barker in there now is setting him up for failure?

You also cannot tell me that #70 on UK's O-Line is not getting beat like he stole something on every rush....bad footwork and worse hands is not helping provide any pocket protection. I don't put it all on everyone else, PT had some passes that were not that great admitedly...but you think I wouldn't call his number a few times at 6'4" and 240 lbs....that's potentially the best run option they have.

It makes it moot if your logic (probably correct) is that a TD there gives them a W which means we're all fat and happy , thus, no PT criticism then I agree. It doesn't negate the fact that PT's accuracy needs to improve and that he needs to learn how to NOT take sacks as often as he does.
September 21, 201511 yr Time learning and observing certainly can help but we simply do not know about him being "ready." The entire team is behind PT as are the coaches, I think many are missing the subliminal message behind that. They want PT to be the guy, but if he stinks it up against Mizzu, I'd start talking to Barker.

September 21, 201511 yr I have no dog in the fight with regard to Towels or Barker. I like them both because they are Kentucky kids, so no matter where they are playing, I'm pulling for them. Since they both play for UK, I want the one in the game who gives the Cats the best chance to win. At this point, I don't think it's fair to lay all of UK's offensive woes at the feet of PT. Especially Saturday, he wasn't able to get into any kind of rhythm because of the offensive line. Dropped passes have hurt in the last two games as well, in addition to questionable play-calling. Having said that, the line did give him a little more time to throw in the 4th quarter & accuracy proved to be an issue for him (again). He did the same thing in the second half against ULL, where he played his worst football of the season IMO. Boom has been the only consistent offensive bright spot for UK. So I guess I favor the QB that will hand it off to him more. :lol2:

September 21, 201511 yr Entire team comment is not correct. First hand knowledge. Same holds true with coaches. Type Patrick Towles into google and hit search. The people on the team who matter, support him. Again though, if he stinks vs Mizzu then I'd talk to Barker.
