What was his rant?

Short version, any talk of Barker is ridiculous, he is tired of hearing it, and Barker is not nearly as good.

 

Then Matt Jones cut the caller off that led to it, and they refused to discuss it anymore.

 

I have no problem with his opinion or with him expressing it.

So what happens when Barker gets a shot and doesn't do any better? Who will be the scapegoat then?

 

Easy. The coaching staff. They pick the players don't they? If the players aren't up to par then blame the coaches.

During the pre game listening to Lorenzen going on a rant about Towles got me thinking. Towles' issues he has had to work on since he got to college are his throwing motion, his release, his footwork, understanding defenses, and reading defenses...anyone want to guess who his Qb coach in high school was.....

I wonder how many of the people hating on Towles now, were the same ones hating on him in High School because of the team he played for. I guess we could go back through those old threads and see, but I think everyone knows who all it was.

 

Nobody hated on him in high school. There wasn't anything to hate on.

 

FWIW, the same could be said about Barker. He had haters in high school who still hate on him now. And we all know who his biggest hater is.

Towles just is what he is, he's a kid with a big time arm who can also run with it a little bit. He can make big throws when he has time. It is concerning that he isn't as polished as he should be 2-3 seasons in. He will give UK a lot of really high highs and a lot of really low lows.

I would like to see them use the sprint out game with him.

PT is going to get a chance to make an NFL roster.

 

However, his accuracy is going to have to get better. Had Bone for a TD and simply missed him.

 

If he fixes accuracy on shorter passes he'll be difficult to handle. If he doesn't he's going to cause the staff to consider a change.

He will get his chance...if PT and Drew cannot do it.

The coaching staff said it was a play calling, protection and drop issue. As much as I think I'm an expert, I'll trust in the guys that get paid to make those decisions.

 

Besides, I don't think that Drew is as good as Pat. It's that simple. Easy to cheer for the back up but the guy is a back up for a reason.

 

Goes back to what I said.

UK has an SEC level DC who is the HC.

The rest of the staff, especially the offensive side leaves a lot to be desired.

Barker has never played a snap so you can't compare the two. If you are talking about high school that is a joke. Tim Couch never won a state title. Neither did Andre Woodson. They turned out ok for UK.

 

Don't confuse a team's success with individual ability at the high school level and then expect it to carry over to college.

 

A large portion of the fan base has lost faith in Towles ability to lead UK. If a single player in the locker room feels the same way there is a problem and me personally if I was playing on the defense I would have a hard time buying into Towles at this point.
