Correct, he wasn't in a bar fight, he was in a bar (I'm going with underage) and was involved in a "running of the mouth incident", which led to him getting sucker punched in the lobby of a secure dorm, not on his campus.

 

There is nothing about that story that screams mature enough to get out of his own way.....

 

I get the fan favoritism, heck I'm doing the opposite side of this discussion as well, but this kid is not yet close to being able to put a mediocre SEC team on his back and have them believe he will get them anywhere....

Come on now...you know this wasn't purely a random sucker punch. I get sticking up for the kid, but you and I both know there was no way this was just random and it just happen to be Drew Barker and there just happened to be an earlier incident.

 

I'm not blasting him, blasting him would be to say that he would have done better playing at G-Town (nothing against that either) but to say he is D-1 level leader is not in the cards.

I'll combine my response.

 

Here's why Drew got suckerpunched. He was at the bar when Baker knocked the kid out. What was the story that immediately went around the interwebs? Baker, Barker, and a player who wasn't even there all "jumped an EKU player." As the film showed only one guy was involved - Baker. Drew was talking to some girl when it happened (seen in the video).

 

So now he goes to the dorm to hang with buddies. Not smart. Got suckerpunched. Why? False rumors.

 

Airsoft gun incident was stupid. Harmless (thank goodness) but stupid. Could have caused a big problem. Lucky it didn't.

 

Being underage in a bar tells me nothing as far as ability to lead a football team. Again , I'll use Chad Kelly as a reference for that point.

 

If being in a bar underage tells you something, great.

 

Coaches said PT is the starter. He deserves the chance to play his way out of that spot. If he does then Drew will get his chance .

If I go with Barker (or Phillips), I still may miss out, but at least I'll have tried to mix it up when it was clearly not working.
