Time for Barker. Please

Featured Replies

Start with the one where Drew didn't separate this team before the year started please and how much work it took for the coaches to rebuild the team. Come back and tell everyone how wrong I am will you? You cannot be objective about someone who's like a son to you, I don't know why you try. It would be hard for any of us to be.

What are you talking about here?

Looking in the Google machine, for something.

The funny thing is how you complain about three people supporting Drew because they have a personal connection with him. But you go out of your way to show your personal bias against him, a lot more than the three you accuse of putting make up on DB.

The question of who should be QB keeps me going back to two questions that still have me puzzled.

1. During Spring practice etc. it was said both QB's are fairly close and Stoops couldn't name a starter until the season drew closer. So if that is true and Barker still hadn't surpassed PT being what many would call a more touted recruit, then could it be that Drew isn't quite where they had hoped he would be right now?

Now the question that has me thinking the other possibility in a totally different direction.

2. IF both QB's are so close, maybe it isn't that Drew isn't where the coaches were hoping he'd be just yet, but the opposite. Maybe PT isn't where he shold be yet and the coaches are more worried about that than Drew's progress. Here is why I say this.

Drew has only been in the system 1 full year and 3 games. Towles on the other hand is in his 4th year at the program. So to think Drew is't where PT is right now isn't really a bad thing is it? PT has 4 years in, Drew is on his 2nd. That's a pretty big difference.

If they pull PT now with still another year to go, would they be rushing a QB in that doesn't need to be rushed?

Like I said earlier, I'd love to see what Drew could do, but in reality there really isn't a rush. Drew is still considered a Freshman.

Why do people forget that PT was 4 star recruit?

If DB is that close to PT, given he has been there half the time or less than half the time, I think that is a good thing. If Drew didn't make it obvious and leave no doubt in the coach's mind that he should be the starter, it makes sense to go with PT. Let PT play, work and develop as he goes through the season. IMO, the more success PT has the better for PT and UK, plus I think that it benefits Drew in the long run, also! I also, like how Stoops is sticking with his guy and not making quick decisions, which is never good for a Qb. For a Qb to know that when the coach gives you the keys, he is not following you around looking to take them a way the first chance he gets.

I keep hearing a lot of folks say it's only been 3 games. In reality, hasn't PT started 15 consecutive games.

I'm a firm believer in giving someone the job and making sure they have an opportunity to prove themselves.

I think the staff has given him an opportunity to prove himself.

If he has another performance like the Florida game, it's time to move to Barker.

I didn't forget he was a 4 star recruit. I was going off of the number of DI programs interested in both. That was all.

If you ask anybody who has access to practice except for RE, PT is significantly better in practice. That said, if PT stinks this week you have to give Barker some first string reps.

While I do not know this to be true I fully believe it. Towles has more experience so I have no doubt he is sharper in practice. That being said practices don't mean anything when the lights of game time roll around. There have been several studs that were not practice players but they showed up on game day and when the pressure was on. Allen Iverson is the most polarizing, but Anthony Davis was not known as a practice warrior during his time at UK.

With what we have seen from Towles when the lights are on I would make a switch and see how Barker does myself in a game situation. If Stoops and Dawson prefer to give Towles some more leash I am ok with that because they know more football than I, but if we continue to struggle throwing the football the giant elephant in the room will only get bigger IMO.

Checked my phone and I only have the numbers for a few D1 coaches and none of them are at UK or OSU so I don't think I should continue to add to this discussion. Good day.

UK should stick with Towles they can still win 7 games this season.

I lost all my contacts a few months ago or I'd call Stoops myself and get to the bottom of this.

It's ok you all are a basketball school, you call Cal, I call Meyer, that's how the game works. ?

It was well publicized one the radio recently but yet that's another lie of mine right? Take you're time and try to mask that one, I'll wait.

In the meantime it's still Patrick's team regardless of how much you all disagree.

Who is disagreeing with PT being the starter?

Are you talking about over the summer when they were asking the players who they think would start and some said PT and other said DB? Because I am not sure I do not listen to talk radio.

He called Fran Curci who was vacationing with Hal Mumme.

...and people want to act like UofL has QB problems. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

UL wishes they had UK's QBs, holmes.

 I am....He's had 15 starts to prove he's the man for the job and he's failed IMO. It's time to let Barker play.
