September 22, 201511 yr To all of the arm chair quarterbacks that have posted so far' date=' don't you think that if Barker was the better option they would have gone with him? There is a reason that PT is the starter, and from the sounds of things it isn't going to change this week. I am not bashing DB, I am sure he is talented as can be. But don't think that Stoops and company do not know who gives them the best chance of winning.[/quote'] If you ask anybody who has access to practice except for RE, PT is significantly better in practice. That said, if PT stinks this week you have to give Barker some first string reps.
September 22, 201511 yr If you ask anybody who has access to practice except for RE, PT is significantly better in practice. That said, if PT stinks this week you have to give Barker some first string reps. I both agree and disagree. UK is 2-1, and I think it is to early to make a change. They do not have a bad record. If they win this week and PT plays decent, everyone would be ok. I think if he struggles again this week and they lose it would be a different discussion. Honestly, though, couldn't some of the blame be put on the O-Line, RB's, and WR's? If the running game produced better, wouldn't that have helped PT as well?
September 22, 201511 yr Anthony, keep stroking your ego buddy. If you really do have all the OSU coaches numbers in your phone, then it is sad how little you know about both football and life. I'm sure when you made wrong decisions in your past, grown men didn't attack you from behind a fake name on a blog. Quit throwing stones in a glass house. You do not know Drew Barker personally, that is obvious. All of your hear-say evidence is moot. It simply doesn't matter because 99% of it is simply untrue. If I were Clyde, I wouldn't even waste my time arguing with you. You obviously have nothing better to do than bash a 19 year old kid with a TON of football ability. Lastly, I have watched more of Drew Barker in a collegiate uniform (both practice and games) than probably most on here. Let me tell you, there is a reason he was a four star recruit and had 15 plus division one offers. He can play at and deserves to play at this level. Your opinion that Drew is only a better runner than Towles is also incorrect and again shows just how little you know about Drew. So, I hope the fact that you have "all the OSU coaches in your phone" helps you sleep well at night because from the looks of your idiotic posts, that's about all you have. Didnt know Barker had played in a Collegiate Game yet, thanks for the info.
September 22, 201511 yr If you ask anybody who has access to practice except for RE, PT is significantly better in practice. That said, if PT stinks this week you have to give Barker some first string reps. Anybody who is running with the One's exclusively will almost always look better in practice. Now if you truly want to get an Apples to Apples comparison, then split the reps. That has not been done at all during fall camp. Barker got one run with the One's in their first closed scrimmage and marched the team right down the field for a passing TD. How many practices have you attended?

I can completely understand why you might feel Barker should be in now but my question to you is, have you spoken to the staff about it.
September 22, 201511 yr That's why I said with the exception of you. I can completely understand why you might feel Barker should be in now but my question to you is, have you spoken to the staff about it. I never said Barker should be in now. I think they want to give PT a very long rope to prove himself because he is four years in the program and want him to lead the team to a bowl this season. Everyone thought he would take that leap this year similar to Woodson's leap, but it hasn't come to fruition through 25% of the season. I really believe the staff wants to stay with him, because once the change is/if made, I think they don't look back. There are lots of things in play, just need to let things work themselves out.
September 22, 201511 yr That's why I said with the exception of you. I can completely understand why you might feel Barker should be in now but my question to you is, have you spoken to the staff about it. As usual you are barking up the wrong tree with false assumptions. I was at UK for the first game and tailgated with the entire Barker clan. We talked about PT getting the nod and since Drew hadn't flat out beat out PT that it made sense for PT to get it. Drew's dad's quote was "I get that. I wouldn't want them to give it to Pat if the roles were reversed." So go call Urban or the special teams coordinator or the student manager that you have in your phone and quit with your falsehoods.
September 22, 201511 yr *News Flash* This just in. I have been named starting QB this Saturday. I will look horrible which will make the entire Bluegrass state stand firmly behind whoever takes my place behind center. Problem solved.
September 22, 201511 yr The question of who should be QB keeps me going back to two questions that still have me puzzled. 1. During Spring practice etc. it was said both QB's are fairly close and Stoops couldn't name a starter until the season drew closer. So if that is true and Barker still hadn't surpassed PT being what many would call a more touted recruit, then could it be that Drew isn't quite where they had hoped he would be right now? Now the question that has me thinking the other possibility in a totally different direction. 2. IF both QB's are so close, maybe it isn't that Drew isn't where the coaches were hoping he'd be just yet, but the opposite. Maybe PT isn't where he shold be yet and the coaches are more worried about that than Drew's progress. Here is why I say this. Drew has only been in the system 1 full year and 3 games. Towles on the other hand is in his 4th year at the program. So to think Drew is't where PT is right now isn't really a bad thing is it? PT has 4 years in, Drew is on his 2nd. That's a pretty big difference. If they pull PT now with still another year to go, would they be rushing a QB in that doesn't need to be rushed? Like I said earlier, I'd love to see what Drew could do, but in reality there really isn't a rush. Drew is still considered a Freshman.

I'm not talking to you Clyde I'm talking to RE, he's a big boy he can handle himself. Go work on your Xmas list for Drew and stop worrying about me.

This pretty much nails it. They have to give PT enough chances to prove whether or not he should be the starter for no other reason than if you have to change it has to be permanent. Stoops can't be switching back and forth.

September 22, 201511 yr Screw that. I'll keep pointing out your errors - although there are so many I'm running out of time and battery power. Start with the one where Drew didn't separate this team before the year started please and how much work it took for the coaches to rebuild the team. Come back and tell everyone how wrong I am will you? You cannot be objective about someone who's like a son to you, I don't know why you try. It would be hard for any of us to be.
