The proof is in the pudding

So the proof looks as if it doesn't matter who they play on Defense, they simply can't stop

anyone.

Sometimes you just have to admit they don't have the players in the roster this year to have the defense that can make a difference. It happens. Accept it and move on.

All you do is come on here and say they need to play different kids. Now according to this post they played different kids and you have a problem with it. Makes sense....

So, you agree with my assessment of your posts? Cool!

Or the proof in the pudding is that the player H#1 is concerned about was properly evaluated.

When was the last year things were this bad?

I wondered the same thing as I watched tonight. I know that some people on here have some years on me, don't know if any of Duffy's teams were this weak.

If I remember correctly Duffy came in and produced winning teams pretty quickly. None of his team's were near this bad if memory serves.

I do recall Highlands being pretty down in 84 and 85. Not sure of their won/loss record, but they weren't very good. I don't think they made the playoffs either season.

No properly evaluated means nothing to me. However I keep seeing and hearing of all these changes and seems as if every week it get's no better so what gives?

That would require admitting Junior can't hack it this year either...

I know the mid to late 80's they werent as dominating and CovCath had their number but I still think they had some talented players. 84' -88' they had a dry spell for rings. 89' I believe was Duffy's first yr and if I'm not mistaken they won the title with Gallichio at QB.

Just overmatched in everything but the kicking game. Hard to watch but some years it's going to happen where good teams are going to put it to you. The problem is that it's been so long that we've forgot how it feels. I just hope the players learn from these games and stay focused on trying to improve each week.

It was most likely 85 and 86. I think the 84 team was ranked number one on the state overall until they got upset by Melvin Miles and Conner. In the playoffs. But even in 85 and 86 they were like 7-3...or something like that.

Simple, it tells me that they are trying to see if changes would make a difference but it looks as if they aren't. Sometimes a team

I do not know the answer, so I am not trying to take a shot at him. Is this the first time Coach Weinrich has been the OC and what is the DC experience?

BW actually went back to calling the defense last night and a former head coach in Ohio, Jason Lynch, who coaches the running backs called the O. However, BW had always been an offensive guy, he just never had the chance to use it because Dale was going to call his own offense so he studied and basically became a mastermind of high school defense.

Great Post 75!

Everybody loses, but Highlands has won like 7 of the past 8 (I may be wrong on #s , but work with me) State Championships. The quote "This program is downright embarrassing" tipped me over the edge. #2 all time in wins; tied for most championships; R U kidding. So St X is better this year. No 5A team has a signature win over a 6A school this year. So what. Get better for your district games as thats all that matters. 8 and 6 can win the championship just like 14 and 0 can. You have to stay together when it gets tough; thats what keeps you on course to make it through to the carpet in BG. Remember Pulaski County would have to come to Ft Thomas to play in late November. LOT to play for!:thumb:

This is NOT a coaching problem. It is a temporary down cycle in the level of talent. Just not enough players to cover the field on either side of the ball. Give it one more year after this one. The Birds will be back.

Bingo. Told my son this morning before he left that you are at a crossroads right now. You can either step up and take a leadership role or you can sit back and let the ship sink. It is your choice. Those that want to joke around, take pictures and/or goof off during and after a game in which you got your butt handed to you need to be asked if they really care and are here for the team. If not, the exit door is on your left. Time to find the 15 or 20 guys that really want to be there and play the game of football with the heart and the passion necessary to turn the season around.

Watching this team warmup last night, I felt like I was at a funeral visitation. The coaches can tell you what to do and how to do it, but at the end of the day it is the player that needs to reach down inside themselves and play the game the way it is supposed to be played.

People talk of the kids reading this site, good. I hope they take a long gander at this post and then go look in the mirror and determine whether they want to be on the bus or whether they want to pull over and get off.

The time is now.

Nice post for the kids to read on a Saturday morning considering where it is coming from. I will be sure to share it.
