Moses Malone has passed away

Moses and Darryl Dawkins within a few weeks of each other. As a guy who grew up a Sixers fan, it's been a bad few weeks.

Moses was my favorite player when I was a kid. The 1983 Sixers are my favorite team of all time. Fo, Fo, Fo......RIP Moses.

Moses also played on same team, Spirits of St. Louis (ABA), mid-'70s, with Marvin Barnes and Maurice Lucas.

From 1979-1987 Moses averaged 25.5points and 14.1 rebounds. Since 1987 no player has averaged that in any season.

Moses is my Personal First Team All NBA Center...I loved Moses Malone.

 

He was a mentor to so many young centers over the years and used to beat on Hakeem everyday in the summer when he was young making into the dominant player that he was.

 

RIP Moses...Now you have reached that Promised Land.

Saw him in '75 when he was with the Utah team as a rookie. They were playing in Memorial in Lexington vs the Kentucky Colonels.

Over 2500 more than the next person on the list NBA and ABA Combined...And over 2200 more than the next best in the NBA alone.

 

Tip I learned from Moses on how to rebound, lean into the other guy and with your body pin one of his arms to his body...then when you jump you are going up with two arms and he's only going up with one. I remember hearing him say that once and I was a leaning fool from then on.

Most recorded offensive rebounds. I imagine Wilt and Russell both had more but they were not recorded until the early to mid 70's.
