Do it just like "Friday Night Lights"

Pick some Applebees (or good $ sponsor) and get the coins out:banana:

How exciting would it be if they held it live. Televise it. On the Internet. On BGP's (hint hint Guru).

No words go together like "blind" and "KHSAA". If they had been trying to do it they would have had a #1 playing a #16 and there were only 8. Therefore, in the absence of other evidence, I have to conclude it was legit. It is just dumb, however, to conduct a blind draw in secret. No matter what the outcome, someone is going to feel it was a set-up. There was no way the KHSAA could come out looking good.

Two words:

Live.

Broadcast.

You and RP have the right idea. :thumb: Use the lotto balls if they need to so everyone can see what is in the tank and what is left.

Even if it were 100% legit and done correctly, ANY results would result in someone not being happy. If you SHOW people it was a true blind draw, then these questions go away.

I think when it comes down to it, you have to trust the blind draw process. You may not like the way it was done, but you have to give the KHSAA the benefit of the doubt on the blind draw.

Yes CR, I am saying we should give the KHSAA a favorable judgment in the absence of full evidence.

I think the evidence you have is the integrity of the KHSAA employee that did the blind draw.

On the other side, I think the only evidence you have is the odds of it coming out this way.

Like it or not CR, the KHSAA does not have a history of just making stuff up. Everyone may not agree with their decisions but there is no real evidence to suggest wrongdoing and if the blind draw fits, you must acquit.

Do you still espouse these opinions?

Yes I do CR.

I suppose now is the part where you reveal the evidence proving me wrong?

They had an article in Sunday's Cincy Enquirer about the draw and they said the only districts actually drawn were the 3,4,5,6 since they are in the middle of the state and require less travel. 1 vs 2 and 7 vs 8 were set and the other four were "blind". Makes a bit more sense.

I believe they got their info from C Ray Hall of the Courier Journal.

The sticking points in everybody's head was less travel and making more at the gate," said Bob Stewart, the athletic director at Male.

That set up the first two rounds. For Round 3, Tackett conducted a limited draw.

There are eight football districts in Kentucky: Nos. 1 and 2 lie in the west, 7 and 8 in the east. Lest teams in those areas have to travel great distances - and defeat the economic imperatives - Tackett excluded those districts from the draw. He drew for only Districts 3 through 6, which cover the center of the state.

"When you put 3, 4, 5 and 6 numbered pieces of paper in a pile and draw them out, there are limited results," Tackett said. In two of the four classes, the draw produced the setup already in place.

Well, so it all makes a little more sense now, but if this system remains there will always be legitimate complaints that 1, 2, 7, and 8 don't have the same problem everyone else does.

A "blind draw" for which only half of the field is eligible? To me, that sounds even more like a scenario set up to knock either Trinity or St. Xavier out of the derby earlier than usual.

How does anyone know that having #1 vs 2, #7 vs. 8 isnt actually worse on THEM than if they were to get anyone else???

Folks are complaining about "fairness" without any idea of what the actuality is. Sure at face value you would like to have all 8 in the hopper b/c in simple terms it seems "fair". In reality each class and district is "randomly" effected by doing it the way they did.

Don't get me wrong, when I said it makes more sense I meant odds wise. No way can you draw 8 times for 4 classes and make a mirror image.

I say go the pay per view route:)

Seriously I think that they should put Regions 9-16 in one hat and 1-8 in the other. I think the past set up was because of a game I played in. We (Lawerence Co) which is on the WV border played Mayfield (Missouri border).

I do think that it would be fun if it could be worked out to play on the college fields in some kind of rotation if all of the Regions are thrown in together.
