2015/16 NKY Boys BBall 6th, 7th, & 8th

I video a lot of games, and have had the occasion to be in the middle of the Highlands parents section, and if anyone has any doubt about the behavior of the parents especially, I can easily provide you with proof, as their comments are heard throughout the video. Yelling at refs, making comments to opposing players, encouraging bad behavior on the court by their players, it is amazing to me that adults act this way, and it is no wonder the kids mirror that conduct. I sent a copy of one of the videos to the principal last year, which included a Highlands player punching a SV player and the ensuing encouragement from some parents. Sad, really.

And Highlands is the only school that has these type of parents? I will answer that for you with a big no they are not. Simply find some of this stuff rather amusing to say the least. Every team in NKY has choir boys and the Highlands basketball program has a bunch of "bullies"

What is this kids name?? Always good to be able to follow for the future. I assume he'll go to Boone or Cooper.

Lucas Jones is who the player they are talking about. Like most 8th graders, he has things to continue working on to get better. But there is plenty of upside.

Has your video "experience" been specific to one of their teams, or is this the typical behavior from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade fans & players? I have observed this with their current 8th grade group.

Just checked with the HMS Principal from last year. He received an email with information about a video. He encouraged you to send it to him, but it was never received as you stated above. I know him too well. If he would have received a video with audio as you describe, he would have taken action.

Please check your PM as I will give you the opportunity to provide the information to me.

The game last year where a player was punched would be the current 8th grade team.

I don't see where bball5088 says they are the only parents and obviously aren't.

But it is pretty bad and to think it is not is very one sided.

What game was this? I don't remember a player punching another player.

I believe it was the regular season game at Summit View.

I don't have a big opinion on the court call myself, I wasn't looking behind the ball which is where it took place.

Is this the Ahfeld ejection? If so, I hardly call that a punch.

It is, that is what he was ejected for which is why I reference it that way.

As I stated, I did not see it happen so don't have much of an opinion on the call itself.

No? It is the rag on Highlands correct? Perhaps I should start attending games and pick out all of the idiots from around NKY. Trust me there are plenty of them to go around and the parochial schools are by far the worst.

If you have the time to do so then be my guest. I would be curious to hear the observations.

I agreed that it's not only Highland parents and still agree. I doubt that any school doesn't have parents yelling stuff out during close games, I also didn't start this conversation but chimed in because saying the Highland parents don't do these things would be untrue as well.

I also early in this thread voiced my opinion because individuals were calling out Highland players and I didn't like that people were calling out 8th grade boys.

It was the regular season game at SV, Highlands won by 2. The player was #12, and indeed it wasn't much of a punch, but I'm not sure what else to call it.

I also never ever singled out Highlands, only mentioned I had video of games which include fan comments and activities, several of which I have sent to someone who requested it. I also agree that there is bad behavior all over, but the thread was regarding Highlands.

I personally attend games to watch my son and his team perform, besides being a fan of the game. I don't think I have ever seen a ref reverse a call because a fan yelled at him. I personally don't like to see taunting on the court, but my thoughts are that behavior is easily learned watching NBA or college ball, still I encourage my son not to do it.

Didn't really think my saying I had video proof would cause this much of a reaction, but the truth is the truth.

Sorry.

This...... but I will say most fans yell at refs not to get a call changed but to make sure they know how much they suck. LOL

Just sayin...

You never singled out Highlands? "I video a lot of games, and have had the occasion to be in the middle of the Highlands parents section, and if anyone has any doubt about the behavior of the parents especially, I can easily provide you with proof, as their comments are heard throughout the video." Is that you NOT calling out Highlands?

Also, before you mentioned it was a punch and now you say it wasn't much of a punch or don't know what it was?

This was never a thread about only Highlands, this is a thread about 6th,7th,8th middle school boys bball.

Ironically, you didn't seem to mention in all of your videoing and basketball knowledge where one of SV's kids flipped off our team and stormed off the court after losing and wouldn't shake hands, which is what started the issue in the stands and everything else in the first place. Did you send that clip to your principal? Funny how certain things don't make the cut here. Also, did you see Highlands fans on here bringing that up, mentioning his number or name or any other issues? To my knowledge that was never brought up but you're bringing up an issue from last year that happened AFTER all of that other drama started. Two sides to every coin.
