Any results from Turkeyfoot tournament? I can't find any 7th grade boys who are playing. Is there a bracket for that? I saw 8th grade BW beat Conner but didn't know who else was in there. any bracket for that?

what other tourneys are other teams playing.

I thought the tourney started next week? I know there are games on Monday.

TF 7th beat St. Joe's (Cold Springs, I believe) by 9-11 points last night at Dayton HS.

7th- Woodland also beat Walton, in first round play at Dayton Tourney.

and you win games by 30+ppg, it's time to look for additional competition. As we have said, we will play anyone that wants to schedule us. From a coaching perspective, we get it. Let us get our kids ready for the next level doing it our way.

Well, I guess Beechwood could have played in the first session of the KBA tournament then which started Friday night and had the stronger teams in it instead of the 2nd session. But then again maybe their schedule didn't allow for that. Clay Co, Knox, Anderson, Scott Co., Shelby West...it was pretty loaded.

Agreed! That first bracket was loaded. I watched a few of those games. I am not sure if KBA did random pools, or if they had info about those teams so that they could group them together. We registered late, and were added to the 3rd bracket. But, I believe the top 2 or 3 teams in that 1st bracket were better than we are. It seemed that the teams in the 2nd & 3rd bracket were more evenly matched.

Those 30+ppg are in our regular league. The competition we saw in our bracket at KBA was better than we have in our league, and was just a notch below what I was hoping. Not to disrespect any teams, but I wanted to play good competition. The first bracket was 2 notches above what we would be ready for. Those teams had good skill, good size, and played physical basketball. But, often times, your kids learn more in those games than you did when you win in blowouts.

Yep...I didn't get to go watch as we were playing in Indiana this weekend, but talked to one of my Anderson parents and he said it was a really good tournament. They went 3-2, losing to Clay to open up, then beating Shelby, CAL and Scott Co in succession on Saturday, losing to Knox in overtime after being up 1 point and fouling the shooter at the buzzer on a desperation 3 in regulation. Some solid teams in that bracket for sure. I think they pretty much set the sessions up, putting who they thought/knew to be the better teams in the first session. I know Anderson asked for the 2nd session since their head coach couldn't be there Friday night and didn't want to miss it and they were told no. But at the very least sounds like Beechwood got better than what the have seen in their league, which is good.

8th grade

Highlands beat Summit View in OT

8th grade

Highlands beat Summit View in OT

So with full squad the Birds are 1-0 over SV and with decimated squad 1-1 on the season?

Sounds like this is a great matchup.

Correct with both teams decimated they were 1-1

Only game with both having all of their players went to overtime and Highlands leading 1-0

Teams are fun to watch play each other and could play each other up to 4 more times this year.

8th HMS VS SV: It was another battle. These teams always play each other well. They will probably end up playing each other 6-7 times this year between tourneys and regular season. HMS is actually up 2-0 on playing them with full squads. SV blew out HMS in a preseason tourney at Lloyd without Huddy or Ahlfeld. I think SV was down Hensley as well. We just beat them at HMS and then last night in the Dayton tourney.

Very impressed with the development of #34 Davis on SV. He kept them in it with 5 3's last night. SV shot the lights out. I think they were somewhere around 11-22 from 3's last night.

Both Davis for SV and Ahlfeld for HMS had 19 pts each to lead each other's squads.

Any other scores? I heard 8th Ockerman beat Beechwood and 8th grade Conner beat Camp Ernst. Wondering what happened in those games.

Both considered upsets? Kind've hard to call anything an upset really at this age I guess.

Well, actually... If memory serves correct (and, I could be wrong)...

Partial SVA roster beat partial Highlands roster in the Campbell County tournament.

Then, Highlands full roster (Huddy played almost 3Q), beat SVA (added Hensley, played almost 3Q, BUT was without Landen Scott, the teams top shooter) at HMS by 5 or 6, I believe.

Then, both teams complete roster last night, Highlands wins in OT.

Either way, HMS 2-1 and will likely meet 3 to 4 more times. At least once more in Dayton tourney (if SVA and HMS can get to finals and SVA beats HMS in first game). Then, they'll play in regular season at SVA, then likely again in conference tournament. So, it could be 1 more time, could be 4, lol. Hoping for 4 because these are great games!!! :)

Woww! Had not heard either of these. Yes, both would be upsets. We don't have to be politically correct, haha! We know how good BW and CE are, and those other two teams are also good and play hard!

That said, it's the holidays... Teams could be missing players, etc.

Watched all three games at Turkeyfoot last night. First time I've been able to see any of those teams play all season.
