August 25, 201511 yr I hope he runs. FCC rules states he has to give equal time to his opponent once he announces he is going to run. That is, unless Andy Barr signs a waiver which very rarely happens. That means Jones won't be on UK pregame shows and on the radio during the election. I wish him the very best in the election.
August 25, 201511 yr I listened to most of today's first hour, but he sure came across like he was going to run. I enjoy the show quite a bit, but there's no way I'm listening to it unless Jones is the host. Agreed on both.
August 25, 201511 yr does any station carry his show in Greenup or Lewis Co's ? Might have to get 630 out of Lexington.
August 25, 201511 yr I find it fascinating that UK fans are all aboard on putting a liberal Duke grad into the US Congress.
August 25, 201511 yr Author If I were making a bet, I would say he rides the hype and teases his audience for about a month...then announces that he just can't do it and backs out just before basketball season.
August 25, 201511 yr If I were making a bet, I would say he rides the hype and teases his audience for about a month...then announces that he just can't do it and backs out just before basketball season. That's what I would do. Brilliant PR move to boost the show's ratings, and ad sales.
August 25, 201511 yr That's what I would do. Brilliant PR move to boost the show's ratings, and ad sales. I agree like him or not he is incredibly smart. He basically invented a job and now gets paid to be a UK fan with better access than anybody else can get. Who wouldn't want to have his job. I think he's learned for hosting the two debates in the last couple years that dabbling in politics gets the show a lot of exposure.
August 25, 201511 yr Author That's what I would do. Brilliant PR move to boost the show's ratings, and ad sales. By the way, I'm not knocking him. I'm just saying that's what I would put my money on if I were a betting man.
August 25, 201511 yr By the way, I'm not knocking him. I'm just saying that's what I would put my money on if I were a betting man. Me either. Makes perfect sense. He'd only get smeared on the campaign trail by the politics machinery.
August 25, 201511 yr I think him running has more potential to hurt his brand than help. Most KSR fans know he is liberal. By the comment section a large majority don't agree with his politics. People look past it because he doesn't dabble in politics a lot nor does he put his personal beliefs in people's face as much. Him running makes him go on the record and can't be the semi neutral person he tries to come off as.
August 25, 201511 yr Didn't Matt take a shot at Rand Paul at Fancy Farm? Seems like a pretty passionate fellow, whether it be basketball or politics. I can see where some would find him annoying though.
