To go along with the actual thread though.......I think Ncc has the advantage to win it all over Danville, strictly from a preseason standpoint. However, it seems that Danville lost close to nothing after graduation and that sounds pretty scary. IF Mayfield and Danville continue to do what they do best (play football), the Cards might have more than they can handle. BUT lets wait and see how the season goes..............

NewCath lost their top 2 receivers and QB. Danville returns everybody. If Harris or Diehl, whoever it is, can get be about 85% efficient as Diehl last year, NewCath may get past Beechwood. If not, Bankemper and company will be facing Danville...again.

slow your roll. You finally win a title and your gonna dog Mayfield. Ncc has been to the title game three times since 2000 which shows their recent success. After that I have a hard time finding out anything about them (other than your great coach). Mayfield, on the other hand, is 9th nationally in all-time wins, has seven titles to your????? 1 is it????, and in the last 8 years has managed to make it to the final four or further every year except '99 ( lost to Hancock Co. in regional final), and in those 8 years we have made it to the finals as many times as you with as many titles.....3 appearances, 1 title.

Every year we schedule larger schools (much larger I might add) and every year we are prepared come playoff time, no matter if we have a team off all-stars or not. And for some reason I don't see their success dropping off, so............

Power--don't let the NCC banter get to you. We have to hear year 'round how they are the best A team of all time. After a while--it goes in one ear and out the other . . . . . .

Any reason to think differently?

History would tell you they will be good. I guess I'm looking for you to back up the claim with something about this particular team. It seems they lost a lot.

the defending champs are always the team to beat.

Always?

Power--don't let the NCC banter get to you. they are the best A team of all time.
Thanks for the reminder quick!!!!!:p
Always?

You are right. Prob not always but I would say most of the time. If you are a champ once, that particular attitude and frame of mind tend to stick with you (once again most of the time).

Nice!!!:ylsuper:

AA is talking smack AWFULLY early.;) Although, I must admit that threads such as this make me want to dust off my football season avatar.

NCC finally beats Mayfield and the Cards are finished. Mayfield has been a contender for AA and A titles for the last 30 years and hopefully many more. I think calling Mayfield a thing of the past is showing football ignorance. Kinda like some fans calling Ncc chokers because they couldn't win the big games in years past. About Mayfield team this year. They will be young but they have some good talent coming up and they should win the region but thats about it. 07 and 08 should be very good teams.

Yeah, I think this years team will be down but I like what I am hearing about the middle school kids.

Seems like rambler omitted one of class A's Super Powers

:thumb: You are right, if you are talking about Mayfield, I did fail to mention them. They are always a threat also.

I gotta give the preseason fav spot to the Ads, they return alot, have as good of coaching as anyone in the state and are likely very motivated after what would be a subpar showing last year by Ads standards. I gotta give NCC the #2 spot. They really impressed me in the title game and looking back on it they really seemed to hit another gear last year late in the season but the loss of the QB is huge and its not often that a kid steps in and is able to preform at that position right out of the gate the way last seasons starter did. That QB was a dandy! After Danville and NCC I think its a wide open affair. Traditional power Beechwood is going to be a mystery having a new coach and Mayfield lost alot and will be talented but young and should struggle early against its usual rough schedule. Most likely all four of the classes most successful programs will likely make some noise. I might add that I have no idea about the EKY schools or if any will make any noise and of course there was a new rinkle from Lexington in the mix last year and a Louisville school that has recently made some noise and it is always a mistake not to mention Bardstown

Thanks for the props 'Pick! However, we graduated an awful lot, our district tightens up this year and Danville on the horizon. Gonna take some quick maturing by underclassmen to get back.
