Best Individual Performance....

Featured Replies

Me either! My dad and I used to always go together and that night will forever be etched into my memory! AWSOME performance!

I've never had to sprint from one end of the field to the other to stay in front of the action like that night. Tayshawn McBroom said it best late in the 4th Quarter. As I walked past we made eye contact, and I said "WOW!". He said "State Title on the line. What did you expect?" I would have been more than greedy to expect what I saw that night...

The Belfry backfield rushing for 526 yards in the '04 title game was quite a feat, too.

One back had something like 280 yards and the other 180. I can't remember which one had what, but the backs were Doug Howard & David Jones.

Jarrod Lawson of Corbin against Somerset in the 2003 Pigskin Classic was virtually unstoppable. He had 335 yards and 5 tds rushing on 20 (I think) carries in about 2 and a half quarters worth of work. He broke free on one big 70-80 yard run and the last guy in his way went to make the tackle only to do a back flip from his trademark stiff arm.

For me it had to be in 2004 when Jamie Hubbard of Highlands carried about 5 Cov. Cath. defenders approx. 15 yards for a Bluebird TD.:dancingpa

If you actually watch the tape in slow motion, he actually crosses the goal line carrying 7... and that was after he had dropped 3 others off at the mall... ;)

I doubt I'll ever see a head to head shootout match what those two did that evening again...

If you do, I hope you get it on tape, because it would be hard to believe. That was the best HS showdown I have ever seen!

Best Individual Performance I've seen of late was Curtis Pulley VS Paducah Tilghman 2004 Regional Finials.

Paducah just scored to go head by 2 TD early in the 4th quarter. Pulley jumps up and blocks the extra point with his left hand. Paducah kicks-off and Pulley is put in to field the kick for the first time all season. Curtis takes the kickoff makes two good cuts and scores from about 90 yards out. Paducah gets the ball back and on the 3rd play Pulley strips the ball from Paducah QB and goes 50 yards non touch and scores. All of this happen in about two minutes or so. Later on in the quarter Pulley takes the team down the field with six straight passes and get's them in position to win the game with a 22 yard field goal. The kick is blocked and Tilghman picks it up and wins the game. Paducah was a great team that year with Joey Cassey and the QB who now plays for Louisville.

Only saw Alexander play once, it was against Campbell Cty. I believe he had 6 TDs. Unstoppable!

Not always ;)

Best performance i personally have seen would have to be Sam Diehl in the 2005 Class State Championship game...He most of the 4th quarter and still put up huge numbers.

256 passing yards and four touchdown passes. 1 Rush td. :ylsuper:

Scott Blair (SW)1999 against Marion County.

500+ total yards of Offense.

6-7 TD.

3 INT's

Can't recall the other stats but it was crazy....

Marty Moore from Highlands in 1988 against Bell County in the playoffs. I think he rushed for over 200 yds and two touchdowns as a fullback.

Actually that was in the 2003 Regional Finals and I didn't see the game but heard how Pulley almost pulled that one out. That was a talented PT team. :thumb:

I can't quote the stats, but as I recollect, Jeremy Britt probably deserves mention in this thread for more than one of his performances.

Cole Draughn (QB from Pulaski County) a few years ago in the playoffs vs Waggener. The score was insane and more indicative of a basketball game, ...

Pulaski County 82

Waggener 68

His numbers were insane but I cannot recall them. I remember Milam saying on Sports OT that it was not an error, that the score and his stats were real. I believe he had around 700 yards of offense (passing & rushing).

Dustin Grutza scoring 6 TDs against Ashland in the 2003 playoffs.

That was in 2003
