Mountain I agree and I'm a Catholic fan. I think if Murray was 5 and OC was 6 I would buy it. Zuberer is worth the price of admission for sure. Very fun to watch. I watched him play a non district game vs a Illinois team Mater Dei I believe and his team was down 42-14. He threw 7 TD passes in the 2nd half and they won 67-49 I believe.

 

As for their D. I think it's better then any D they have had in about 3 years. They been missing their LB corp and I think Boarman, Blair, and McKay are strong and athletic kids. They haven't had a LB group like that in 3-4 years.

 

I agree if Murray was 5 and OC was 6 I would buy it. Murray and OC 2nd round game is always a "dandy". Murray has found a way in the last 4 years. OC in 2010 found a way against the best team in 2-A that year Murray. It seems whoever is favorite loses.

I just think 2-A West is a knock down drag out. After the 1st round It will be a slug fest each round of the playoffs and THEN you got NCC in the Finals.

 

Should be an interesting year in 2-A.

Murray is the beneficiary of a down Calloway Co program. They don't get a ton of their players, but, adding 2-3 good athletes a year gets you 6-9 kids who can play and provide some depth. Plus, the last Head Coach and the current one have upped their non-district schedule the past few years and that's helped them be better prepared for a playoff run. Even without these 2 factors, they always seem to have a quality line, a stud RB or 2 and several solid athletes. It'll be interesting to see if they'll open up the playbook some with the skill kids and QB they have or if they'll still play that ball control 3 yds and a cloud of dust type offense.

In 2013, calpreps has DeSales at 10 and Mayfield 15 and DeSales has the better SOS.

2 years ago doesn't matter. Last year doesn't matter. We all have our opinions. What does matter is this year. We lost over 20+ kids this year. However we lost the same the year before. The atmosphere at DeSales has changed so much over the past several years. We really do teach Faith, Brotherhood, and Tradition. I don't know how the season is going to play out. What I do know is that we will again have a very nasty defense. The offense has playmakers. The numbers are there. We'll dress over 85. I've said it before about this team. I'm cautiously optimistic.

 

We'll know more about this team after the Butler, and Ballard games.

Very true until latter stages of the season, then it has a lot more data and has proven to be pretty accurate.

I think that just the fact that most of the conversation on this thread revolves around DeSales and Mayfield says it all. Cream of the crop. I contend there are 2 or 3 other teams that will have a little something to say about mailing one of these teams a state title.

I respect Mayfield greatly as a program and am so excited for a potential matchup at Mayfield. Feel like that is one of the more cool places to play in terms of atmosphere and history.
