What made the New Madrid quakes unusual was the fact that it was actually four separate quakes between December 1811 and February 1812. Each quake has been estimated to have been as large as 8.0. Most quakes have one major quake and then a series of smaller aftershocks. New Madrid had four major quakes over a three month period each followed by numerous aftershocks. I agree with you on the danger level of this fault zone. A series of quakes similar to what happened in 1811-12 would wipe out Memphis and and seriously damage St. Louis. The 1811-12 quakes rang church bells and rattled windows as far away as Washington, DC and Richmond, Va.
July 27, 201511 yr I remember we had a small one sometime around 1980-82 to where the only way we noticed it was my uncle couldn't figure out why he was being shimmied off the toilet seat while dropping a load — this was in Warsaw in NoKy. I'm guessing it was bigger out in West Ky.

Coronal hole added some risk. 7.0 in Indonesia and 6.9 in Alaska along with 4.5 in Olklahoma show the predictions can be made but isolating the area of impact is not predictable. I will be there next week. Hope it stays calm Wednesday and Thursday.

I did not slip anything by any filter. Coronal hole is a phenomena of the sun where the magnetic fields do not close allowing a powerful stream of charged particles to hit Earth. This creates a shock and enhances earthquake possibility.
