Fear The Walking Dead (Season 1)

Featured Replies

Series begins August 23rd. Same day & time slot as The Walking Dead--Sundays at 9:00 pm.

The show has already been promised two seasons. Like The Walking Dead, the first season will consist of just six episodes. Robert Kirkman wrote the pilot episode & perhaps some others too.

From Wikipedia:

Set in Los Angeles, the series follows a divorced male teacher, a female guidance counselor, and her two children–a son and a daughter–in the opening stages of the zombie apocalypse as they come to terms with the impending collapse of civilization.

Trailer looks promising IMO:

Oh yeah!!!! :thumb:

So, from someone who has never seen 1 episode of The Walking Dead (but seen commercials for it ad nauseam) what sets this apart from that? Isn't this pretty much the same premise? Is this similar to CSI and CSI New York? Same stuff, different cast?

The original Walking Dead picks up months after the zombies started to wreak havoc and society has already collapsed. This picks up from the beginning and is set in LA as opposed to rural Georgia. Different locale (so yes, a little CSI:NY-like) but also a different stage in the overall story.

That is one thing I am curious about. I realize this is to be a prequel, but how long before? I never got a good sense of how long Rick was unconscious to begin the series. Presumably it was before the zombie apocalypse began, but by the time he awoke the country had been overtaken. My guess is it all took place within a few months. Speaking of which, how long has passed during the Walking Dead?

Rick was in the coma for approximately 60 days, and the last episode took place about 18 months after the outbreak.

So this show will actually overlap time frames I'm guessing.

Depends I think. If this starts around day 0 that means they have 60 days in real time to make up between where they start and when the original TV show starts. You can cover a lot of TV episodes with 60 days of source material. Just ask LOST, How I Met Your Mother, or the obvious one, 24.

Though I think its more likely they start overlapping with the 2nd season since you can't stop the aging of child and teenage actors.

There is so much potential to bring the groups together way down the road or something.
