July 20, 201511 yr This actually looks better than TWD based on the preview alone. Hope it is. Well with this the show runners and writers have a much larger license to create themselves. And with the success of the original show, AMC can justify getting a great staff together right out of the gate. Now this hopefully great staff will get to take a concept founded by the other show but not be bound by the source material. Should be interesting.
July 20, 201511 yr First....I'm in 100%. It looks dope. Does anyone else think it is basically just like The Strain on FX?
July 20, 201511 yr Author Does anyone else think it is basically just like The Strain on FX? Could be. This show is going to have a heavily populated city as its primary setting, similar to The Strain. The current Walking Dead show has been largely rural, but even when Atlanta was featured, the city was mostly a ghost town. I think this show will be a lot like the World War Z film, at least early on.

July 21, 201511 yr Author Have you read the book World War Z? Yes. Very different from the movie, but really good.
July 21, 201511 yr Yes. Very different from the movie, but really good. Totally agree, I enjoyed the book so much more and don't know if I've ever seen a movie that drastically different from the book.
July 26, 201511 yr Totally agree, I enjoyed the book so much more and don't know if I've ever seen a movie that drastically different from the book. The book told a great story in a unique way. Would have made a better HBO/showtime type series.
August 20, 201511 yr Author There was a 5 minute or so preview on AMC the last couple of Sundays. One of the Executive Producers made an interesting point concerning FTWD: the viewer will know more about this fictional world than the characters in the show. That's not been the case, for the most part, with TWD. I think that makes the show challenging for its creators, because we know this isn't going to end well. Having said that, what they have going in their favor is that TWD didn't show us how the world went to pot so quickly. FTWD, I presume, is going to do just that.

At some point it has to turn into the same type of storyline as The Walking Dead. Not sure how they drag it out to that point...
