Norse maintains the world’s largest dedicated threat intelligence network. With over eight million sensors that emulate over six thousand applications – from Apple laptops, to ATM machines, to critical infrastructure systems, to closed-circuit TV cameras - the Norse Intelligence Network gathers data on who the attackers are and what they’re after. Norse delivers that data through the Norse Appliance, which pre-emptively blocks attacks and improves your overall security ROI, and the Norse Intelligence Service, which provides professional continuous threat monitoring for large networks.

Ever get that us vs the World feeling. I do now after watching that.

Just wait until they figure out how to successfully take out our entire power grid.

We need to work on that very quick as that is one of the, if not the, most serious issue we face.

Agreed.

Yes.

No one is paying attention to China right now.....look what is happening to there "stock exchange" the past month.....

Or Greece, or Puerto Rico...

That's what we'd expect them to say, can't let everyone freak out and crash the market :lol2:

We just want to talk Mr. Dean.

Just wait until they figure out how to successfully take out our entire power grid.

This was a huge issue/topic in law enforcement ten years ago. Most of our grid is fragile and an easy target.

I'm shocked that any power plant or any real piece of US infrastructure is attached to a computer that is directly connected to the net in this day and age. Computers running power grids need to be on their own separate net that has ZERO contact with the rest of the net.

The most sensitive stuff at CIA, NSA and the like are all held on servers that are not connected in any way to computers that have outside access. You would think the power grid could be done the same way.

First, United reports grounding its flights due to "computer issues" :

And now, trading is suspended on Wall Street :

I smell a coordinated cyber attack!

Yes, I read too many Tom Clancy books!

I'm on vacation so I haven't kept up with the news lately. Didn't an F-16 just crash into another plane in the past 2 days or so?

Yes, in Charleston SC of all places. Whats going on in Charleston lately.

Wall street being shut down might be a blessing with what is going on in Greece and the EU. Everyone expected a run on Greek owned shares of US stock over the past few days. Coincidence? Doubt it.

Not when it dropped over 200 points, got crushed either way.

No, recently Obama said that climate change is the biggest issue we all face...ugh...

I would say we are constantly under cyber attack and we are still at the tip of the iceberg.

I would not be surprised if Obama has gotten a phone call from China or Korea or Russia or (you pick a country) saying, "look at what we can do - shut down your stock exchange, one of your major airlines, one of your major newspapers...all on the same day." If you don't do what we want, we can cause A LOT more damage...

I agree that is big, but I'm talking about a threat form another nation(s).

I just found this in Forbes from a few hours ago is below. But what they don't mention is what are the millions of people going to do for food for several weeks until power is restored? What if it's in winter what will most do for heat? Gas pumps are run of off electricity as well, so no gas.

"A major cyber attack on the U.S. electric grid could cause over a $1 trillion in economic impact and roughly $71.1 billion in insurance claims, said a report released Wednesday.

The report looks at the financial impact of a scenario in which 15 states and Washington, D.C. suffer a blackout as a result of a cyber attack on the power grid. The scenario is created by the University of Cambridge Centre For Risk Studies, which uses some real life, publicly known cases to create the model. The report is also co-produced by Lloyd’s, the London-based insurance service provider that has been working with the U.K. government about managing cyber security risks.

“Cyber attacks are often treated as a problem of technology, but they originate with human actors who employ imagination and surprise to defeat the security in place,” said Tom Bolt, director of performance management at Lloyd’s, in the report. “The evidence of major attacks during 2014 suggests that attackers were often able to exploit vulnerabilities faster than defenders could remedy them. In order to achieve accurate assessment of risks, insurers need insight into the evolution of tactics and motives across the full spectrum of threats.”"
