I think the list is pretty spot on. I'd take Boyle off and put in either Paducah Tilghman, Danville, Beechwood, Male, BG, or Owensboro. The key word is "iconic". In wrestling terms you think Hulk Hogan, Rick Flair, Andre the Giant, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Success over decades for me gives a team iconic status.

 

As for my Devils, they only have 4 state football titles, but have had several runner ups (damn Highlands lol) and have produced numerous college athletes as well as a few NFL guys. For a school that's confined to about 10 square miles, OHS has done extremely well. OHS is also in the top 50 nationally in all time wins as is a few of the schools I mentioned.

I could not disagree with you more. Perhaps their program is feared at the level of 5A and below, but the upper class in 6A certainly don't feel that way. Trinity plays more high-ranked teams and has achieved National Recognition. Outside of KY and Cincinnati, Highlands isn't half as well known. While that can be attributed to Trinity being a larger size and playing a higher class, that doesn't change the fact that they get more recognition and are therefore more iconic.

I dunno, but according to their Wikipedia articles Highlands graduated 5 NFL players (and 1 NFL coach), and Trinity graduated 7 NFL players.

Trying to narrow this to 5 is difficult, several like Bw and Danville always pop into my mine when thinking of Iconic programs yet its a debate as to whether they belong. Several others also come to mine

My list would have Beechwood in before Boyle. No disrespect intended, but they've got more titles.

 

I'd also have Highlands at number 1. With the size of the school, it's incredible that they are always reloaded and consistently the best team in nky. Pound for pound, Highlands has got to be one of the top programs in the country. Obviously, Trinity is well deserving too.

I've always felt Trinity is the superior program in Kentucky. Taking the name high upon national leader boards. The only change I would make is Danville for Boyle.
