As I continue these you can rest assured this is not the last time Trinity will be on one

I am a BC grad. I appreciate the ranking. But I find it tough to be in over Danville. Danville is not the same Ads team the last 10 years. But they have 10 titles from 1962 to 2003. I think they have only a couple of losing seasons in the history of the program. HISTORY.

 

They have had a few teams that would rank in the pantheon of All Time Greatest Top 50 in KY history. Produced great players and won titles under three different Head Coaches.

Those are the two not mentioned that have the most to be upset about IMO. If Danville has a notch above Beechwood it would be that they won a mythical title in the 50's and a Playoff title in the early 60's before Beechwood appeared on the state scene. Very similar in number of titles and pretty even in head to head.

As much as I'd like to include them I would probably have Beechwood at 6 behind Danville with Boyle Co coming in 7.

I think that Danville should be included before Boyle Co., and yes, Mayfield over Beechwood.

I'd agree that we didn't belong on the other two, but if we'd been left out of this, I'd have been cross.

I could see a 1a and 1b for Trinity and Highlands. Trinity certainly gets more national attention, rightfully so given their will to schedule national powers. But with equal championships and Highlands having a longer standing tradition, they seem more like equals to me.

Of course Mayfield in the top 5. Argument can be made for number one, pound for pound IMHO.

I will take that! Anytime someone mentions Trinity & Highlands in the same sentence I consider it a "Huge" compliment for both programs!:thumb:

Did some checking and in the same 60 year period Highlands has 635 wins or 10.6 per year. You have to remember many of those early seasons only had a limited number of games, sometimes half of what is possible these days.

I completely understand what your saying and I have no qualms with it. The reason I consider them equals though (as someone else said pound for pound) is due to the fact that Highlands has such a high rate of winning over 100 years, as opposed to the past 60 years. There's no doubt in my mind that Trinity will be a strong program 40 years from now and may have even more impressive numbers than they do now. I don't discredit them one bit, which is why I would personally consider them 1a/1b. To me though, 100 years of excellence is pretty iconic, its just hard to say that one is clearly #1 .

The only difference between the two for me is that Trinity has had natural foes on a year in and year out basis (St. X, Male, Manual) that could go toe to toe with them depth and talent wise and Highlands most years just hasn't faced the same level of competition in the playoffs that Trinity has.
