June 18, 201511 yr The Narrow Door Luke 13: 22-30 22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. 23 Someone asked him, “Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?” He said to them, 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to. 25 Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ “But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’ 26 “Then you will say, ‘We ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ 27 “But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from. Away from me, all you evildoers!’ 28 “There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. 29 People will come from east and west and north and south, and will take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God. 30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and first who will be last.”
June 18, 201511 yr So apparently this shooter said he "wanted to start a civil war" according to his roommate. Wow. BREAKING NEWS: #CharlestonShooting suspect had apparent interest in white supremacy. But it was in a church.
June 18, 201511 yr He did kill 9 people. 9 black people. You can keep believing this was a religious hate crime but it wasn't. And ironic you use that quote. The victims were judged by the color of their skin by the shooter. sinfully, too
June 18, 201511 yr Considering he had a CSA license plate, and patches of the flags of both Rhodesia and apartheid South Africa. I'm leaning towards race just a wee bit. But! But! But! But! But! It was at a church! A church! A CHURCH! IT WAS AT A CHURCH! So yeah, I guess it's probably not about race. And even though he actually told people it was about race before he shot them, it's probably still about religion. I keep forgetting it's at a church. My bad. It was at a church. May those poor souls rest in peace today in heaven.

Still horrible, regardless of motive.
June 18, 201511 yr Correct. In case you didn't know, my post was sarcasm. Everything points to a racial hate crime but you refuse to accept that. We cannot fix a problem (which racism still is) without at first acknowledging it exists. You and people like you that want to push this as a religious hate crime are doing nothing but hindering the fight to end racism.
June 18, 201511 yr @AP: BREAKING: Court records: Suspect in church shooting waives extradition, is headed back to South Carolina.

You and people like you that want to push this as a religious hate crime are doing nothing but hindering the fight to end racism. Racism, like poverty, will continue to exist until the end of days. Man cannot fix this. No liberal can fix this. There is only One that will fix the problem.
June 18, 201511 yr Racism, like poverty, will continue to exist until the end of days. Man cannot fix this. No liberal can fix this. There is only One that will fix the problem. And the idea that nothing can be done to help it, is part of the problem. Man can go a long way to improving race relations but not if you don't first acknowledge it.
June 18, 201511 yr And the idea that nothing can be done to help it, is part of the problem. Man can go a long way to improving race relations but not if you don't first acknowledge it. You mentioned the problem as a solution to your own question - man.
June 18, 201511 yr This has devolved quickly into absurdity. For a secular thinker such as yourself, I can see where you would say that. However, I disagree.
