I have no idea why but I'm thinking either Walker or Rubio is going to end up with it.

I'm voting for Paul and Walker is my #2 . I think when it's all said and done it's Walker.

One of those two as Veep could make for a formidable ticket.

Not speaking specifically for FBD, but he is way too middle-of-the-road for many constituents.

How can you say he's only against it because of his White House run, when it's been well documented he's been against it pretty much since its inception?

 

I'm not saying that is the only reason he is against it. I'm saying it is convenient for him at this moment to protest it so vehemently. He is using this to help himself along in 2016. Again, to ignore the obvious is just silly.

I agree with you far more often than not capt, but I respectfully disagree with you on this one. I do not think Paul is just grandstanding. He has been very consistent for a LONG time about his disdain for the Patriot Act. It is coming up now because this is when the Act is up for renewal. I think the timing is coincidental. I applaud a politician that actually has some conviction in his beliefs. I don't agree with everything he says but I love that he tells you what he thinks and does not tell group A one thing and group B another hoping to make them both happy. I respect that...

I give him some cred for this fight. This stand may mean he don't make it out of the primaries next year.

Not making the huge leap that the Patriot Act is going the direction of a totalitarian form of government like communism but once you start going down that path, it can be difficult to turn away from it.

Lets face it. Rand Paul is not going to be on the top ticket next year.

 

His views include - limited government (neither party likes that), stronger oversight of the Federal Reserve (the bankers and leaders of the parties do not like that), less military intervention where US interest are not at issue (the military complex does not like that), more reasonable approach to the 'war on drugs' (law and order backers do not like that) and of course he now has the ire of the 'intelligence community' (is that not an oxymoron).

 

So Rand lacks the backing of the usual power brokers. He is an odd-duck like his father in the political circles. But he has some interesting views.

^What you're really saying is that he's pretty much the perfect candidate. I agree.
