May 24, 201610 yr ^^^^ The Mayor and DA had to make a show of they thought they knew what they were doing. I would hate to be the last few on trial, they will be the sacrificial lambs.

June 10, 201610 yr Prosecutor withholds evidence from defense in this case. Judge not happy. Judge Finds Prosecutors Withheld Evidence in Freddie Gray Officer Case - Yahoo I've said it before. Prosecutors are paid to get convictions and too often will do whatever it takes.
June 10, 201610 yr I've said it before. Prosecutors are paid to get convictions and too often will do whatever it takes. Doesn't paint a good picture for the Baltimore Justice system when folks don't trust the police and now will doubt that even the prosecutors can be trusted.

June 10, 201610 yr This thing continues to smell...just curious how much coin is going to be spent attempting to get convictions on these guys. It seems to me that this is more a case of negligence in not strapping the guy in rather than willful misconduct. (Unless, of course, there was a "brake check" involved that caused the dude to fall and get his spine skewered)
June 10, 201610 yr As long as prosecutors are elected officials there will be rogues like this one and Nifong that prosecute certain cases to score political points. Would love to hear any of the attorneys on here propose a system where prosecuting attorneys are not politically appointed or elected. I honestly don't know if there's any way to take politics out of the judicial system but something has to happen.

First Idea I had was that Prosecutors and Public Defenders be in the same Office and cases get assigned randomly...Prosecute one case, then maybe Defend the next two, then Prosecute a few again. This may be roughly how the JAG corps in the Military does it.

My thought was that all attorneys that practice criminal law within a jurisdiction would be required to rotate as prosecutors on a regular basis.
June 23, 201610 yr I posted this before but if they go 0-6 its going to get ugly. It's going to get ugly then because there's no way the next 3 get convicted. Did they all choose a trial by judge? Very smart decision.
