It seems I read somewhere that they are close to NYC, a much larger city, in total murders.

Back to the case I was listening to someone on TV a few days ago and they said that they expected 1-2 convictions or guilty pleas and the other 4 may not be found guilty of a crime but will probably lose their job and retirement.

 

It will be interesting to see what the actual facts of this case turn out to be...IF Gray was intentionally harmed in a way that would have had a high probability to have led to his death then they need to be punished. Too many officers working their butts off everyday to serve their community out of a feeling of service, to have everything they are doing good tarnished by a couple of jerks.

I agree 100%. If the evidence proves some or all are guilty, punish them to the fullest extent of the law.

 

I would also say that if the evidence proves that some of the officers had nothing to do with his injuries that those not guilty verdicts would receive the same acceptance as those found guilty.

Unfortunately as the Ferguson case has proven just being accused of malfeasance is enough to ruin an officer's career.

It is going to be interesting for those charged. It would have been ruled an accident except they didn't strap him in causing the injuries. Who is responsible for strapping him in, all 6 or just one of them? I would say testimony from anyone else in the van will help or hurt the case based on how the van was driven too.

An "Expert" witness on CNN was saying that the only way that injury could have happened was if Gray was standing up and fell in the van. That laying in the van and sliding into the wall would not have caused this specific type of injury.

 

I think the driver, who supposedly checked on him at least twice during the trip to jail, will be the one to get punished. Especially if this was a "Rough Ride", but I don't know if that has been discussed as part of the testimony from the guy in the other side of the van. If he says the driving was erratic and rough then the officer driving is going to have a lot of explaining to do.

In 2010 they paid a family $7M for injuring a prisoner in the back of the police vehicle.

I'd take the $6 million and run before they changed their minds if I was the family, but thats just me. There's no doubt they were going to get paid, even if the accused are not guilty in the criminal trial.
