July 27, 201610 yr Correct. Coroner ruled that it fell under "homicide." Coroner is also an elected official, and often not impartial.
July 27, 201610 yr For there to be "murder", there must be intent. Not securing him with a seatbelt in a transport van does not show intent to murder. Maybe someone who followed the case more closely can explain more, but did the prosecutor withhold exculpatory evidence, possibly in relation to Gray and crash for cash schemes, as well injuring himself in police custody for settlements? I know in the beginning it was brought up, but I'm not sure if this was disproven or not.
July 27, 201610 yr An attorney can better explain it, but homicide does not equal murder. Murder is a form of criminal homicide. Okay. So by ruling it a homicide it basically implies that the person was killed but didn't commit suicide. Correct?
July 27, 201610 yr Coroner is also an elected official, and often not impartial. Makes even more sense now.
July 27, 201610 yr Okay. So by ruling it a homicide it basically implies that the person was killed but didn't commit suicide. Correct? I think so yes, for example I believe that if let's say you die in a tornado/hurricane/natural disaster, its marked as a homicide as well.
July 27, 201610 yr Makes even more sense now. Ever follow your local County Coroner race? Interesting, did you know that in many counties in KY (not sure about other states) the Coroner replaces the sheriff in extenuating circumstances arise.
July 27, 201610 yr Okay, just so we are clear and all on the same page.....his death was ruled a homicide(as was Eric Garner's) but no one murdered him nor will be held responsible for his death(again, like Eric Garner). Is that accurate? The Navy seal who last month drowned during training in CA was ruled a homicide also. Kind of the same thing. The instructors contributed to his death during training by dunking his head and splashing water. This is what they said at the time: "It is important to understand that 'homicide' refers to 'death at the hands of another' and a homicide is not inherently a crime," Ed Buice said in a statement. "The nomenclature of the autopsy report does not signal that the Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigation into Seaman Lovelace's death has culminated, nor that conclusions have been reached regarding criminal culpability
July 28, 201610 yr Marilyn Mosby on Freddie Gray’s case: we could try the cops 1 times with the same result Are they really suggesting guilty until proven innocent? A trial by jury is a right for a defendant and not a tool prosecutors can or should manipulate. With the way passions were inflamed in Baltimore in the aftermath of the riots there's no way these cops could have gotten a fair trial before a jury so the exercised their rights to have a judge solely decide their case. The prosecutor had a terrible case and she overcharged. Now she crying about the result.
July 28, 201610 yr I think so yes, for example I believe that if let's say you die in a tornado/hurricane/natural disaster, its marked as a homicide as well. Okay. Thanks. I never knew that.
July 28, 201610 yr Ever follow your local County Coroner race? Interesting, did you know that in many counties in KY (not sure about other states) the Coroner replaces the sheriff in extenuating circumstances arise. Nah, not really. Never paid much attention to it at all. I never knew that.
July 28, 201610 yr So what should he have ruled it? I don't know. What are all of the choices? Homicide, suicide. What else is there? I was speaking more to coroners in general being impartial since they are elected officials.
