Grand Jury indicts the 6 Freddie Gray officers

Featured Replies

I tend to believe the other prisoner in the van. They have no vested interest to lie. I think she prosecuted to either further her political career or vengeance. From what I understand Gray had a history of injuring himself for profit. If that's true, it's far fetched that he did it this time.

Dont disagree but I also wonder if something else happened in the van that they were trying to cover up.

The other prisoner or the officers

The other prisoner or the officers

Prisoners in the van.

I think the mayor is certainly fair game for her reaction.

But a prosecutor inherently assumes guilt if they think there is reason to bring charges. Otherwise, why would you ever bring charges?

Interesting tid bit about the mayor...an Oberlin Grad who many Oberland current students are not to happy being associated with I might say lol, but she was the one who opened the DNC this year. She apparently is the Democrats future "Bright Star" as MSNBC described her. I think she is an embarrassment. How she handled this entire case is embarrassing. Her press conference did nothing but incite riots.

I wish she was named in the lawsuit along with the prosecutor.

I don't know all the facts but from what I've read it seemed the prosecutor by the heavy charges set her burden of proof to high.

When the common complaint with those who protest cops is they are so hard to push. ( This isn't my opinion) Then why overcharge and charge so many people ?

Because if you undercharge them, the masses will come after you. By overcharging, she can say the system failed by finding them not guilty/hung jury.

Just another example of an unqualified politico being elevated to a job they have no ability to adequately perform. Sort of like a Community Organizer becoming President...

It's known as Peter Principle

Reports came out today that the prosecution had a script for the lead detective to read to the grand jury, and shortly after the detective texted one of the prosecutors telling them she didn't feel comfortable reading it because she felt it was inconsistent with the investigation.

Report also said the prosecutors basically shut down any questions from the grand jury because the detective believed any of her answers would have contradicted the statement she read.

If that's true, the prosecution needs jail time and disbarment.

The problem with THE CURRENT DOJ is that no matter what the PD is doing, the DOJ will find all kinds of problems with it. I am not saying the Baltimore PD does not have its share of problems. It most likely does. I AM saying that the DOJ investigation was probably not objective at all. I am pretty certain the DOJ went in with an agenda...

Wondering who those 6 are and what they did.

Report said the following:

Problem is not isolated - systemic was the word used.

Constitutional violations

BPD worked to "discourage" or "suppress" complaints about the police by citizens.

Blatant disregard for rights of black citizens. One example was an officer riding WITH a DOJ investigator and told his partner to stop a black guy despite no reason to stop him. Told his partner (again with the DOJ investigator in the car) to "make something up."

Commander told force to "lock up all black hoodies."

Officers were told to arrest someone for "standing near" a housing project despite there being no reason to make an arrest. It was so blatant the the form the officers had to fill out already had "black male" typed in the description field.

More details in here.

In their most high-profile investigation in recent memory they found the accused officer innocent of any civil rights violations.
