Sometimes I think about what could have been in 1994/95. Simon Kenton made the region in 94 and won in 95. Joe Harney enrolled at HC as a frosh while Jason Williams left for Cross after his freshman year. They were key in leading HC to the state quarters in 94. Jeremy Palmer also attended WV and was solid at 6'6". I can only dream about a backcourt of Jeff Krohman (KWC) and Joe Harney 6'4 (WKU)along with Jeff McKinley 6'5" (UL, .NKU)", in the backcourt. Williams 6'6", Palmer and 6'5" Scott Meyer, Bill Dennis and a solid group of role players. They would have been a threat to win both years.

Add them to the group of Charles Sheffield, Randy Lee, Jason Brake and Ahmad Jefferson that went to the 96 regional final and that 95 team would have been loaded.

I'm not familiar with Cummins but Lloyd was pretty good in '96.

@Plato Jordan Green stayed, but Trey Grundy went to Hargrave. Christen Cunningham went to Cordia, and Teddy Ware went to Scott County. Add in Jeremiah Tisdale and that's a very very good team

Isaiah Tisdale, even as a sophomore, wasn't too bad himself either. He was a big part of what they were able to do later on in that season. They had a few other kids who who could have really done some things off the bench. They still made a regional final and gave Scott County a nice game in that one.

 

I'm in agreement with everyone else about that being a very good team. I'll take it one further and say that they could have even been one of the top teams to come out of the 11th in the past decade or so.

 

As Juniors, that same team almost beat Madison Central in the regional final the year they went on to win State. Everyone probably remembers the great games Central had against Holmes, Hopkinsville, and Ballard once they were in Rupp, but they were almost eliminated by the Devils in the regional semis.

Cam Snapp was at Bracken County in his early years. Put him with the teams we have had the last three years and who knows what they could have done?

Not sure how long ago, but Matt Wilson's family lived in Bracken County too.

The 2012-13 Louisville Central team that featured Jamie Johnson, Stuart Jackson (KY/IND All-Star), and Dominique Chandler went 23-6. Also had a good guard in Cedric Daniels. Wonder how good they would've been if D'Angelo Russell had stayed at Central and not went to Montverde after his freshman year. He would've been a Jr. that year. Also what would've been if those guys stayed together the year after in 13-14. Central had a down year that year, but they had no seniors. Jamie Johnson didn't play, Cedric Daniels went to prep school, and D'Angelo Russell won a national Championship at Montverde. Those 3 as seniors with a Dai'Von Thompson (who was the only non-senior on the 1st team all 7th region team this season, and was 2nd team all 7th region that season as a sophomore), and the role players would've be great as well.

Wow, Matt Wilson, Austin Crawford, and Cam Snapp? With Hinson coaching? I think I would just give that team the Region title, as an act of kindness to the rest of us :lol2:

Current Miami (OH) commit, Zack McCormick was also attempting to enroll at Dixie Heights before ending up at Turpin because his dad didn't want him playing there. Put him and Hatton together their junior and senior years and Dixie likely not only wins region, but possibly a state title.

 

McCormick added would have been huge, and I wonder if Zach had enrolled at Dixie if Jordan Fox could have somehow stayed as well...

Going back in the day some but.. Andrew King played middle school ball at Augusta, played high school at Bracken 01-04. King maybe scored 1000 or close to 1000 during that span I believe. Augusta's Brian Kirk scored 2200 and Thomas Appleman 1500 those same years. Talk about some scoring if that group stays together.

 

Those same years Jarrod Litzinger played a major role on the Mason County State title and State runner up teams in 03 and 04. He was never at Augusta but his dad is an Augusta grad I believe.

 

Also, Bracken late 90s standout Adam Reed was an Augusta kid. Bracken Won the All A in '98, played his college ball at Pikeville and took them to the NAIA Final 4. Augusta had some pretty good and pretty tall forwards back then. Could have used a PG like Reed.

The 2011-12 Somerset team could have had DJ Townsend who left after his freshman season to help Rowan County to a state runner-up finish and is now at Georgetown College, Taylor Gover who is at University of the Cumberlands and Tyler Goins who started for 4 years on some good Pulaski teams. All of them were at Somerset in 2007-08.

Good point. McCormick, Fox, and Hatton would've been arguably the best trio in the state had that situation played out.

 

And even though he had his issues, I would've liked to seen what Dixie does with Pike as a senior. (left early for Auburn)
