Most definitely not Tex Mex, forgot that aspect.

 

Used to be a place across from Dixie High School that started over in Mount Washington. Can't remember the name but they had good Tex Mex. Is it even still around?

 

El Coyote is the place, and it's been closed for at least 5 years or so. The original is still open in Anderson Twshp. The owner had franchised a few locations around the area which all closed as well. Recently, they had a spot downtown where Cadillac Ranch was, but it was only open less than a year as well. Great food, and if you're ever in Anderson Township, it's worth eating there.

There was discussion of one of those going in on 27, but that fell through. I was bummed. Could have walked there.

Another vote for Mi Tierra in Fort Wright

Montoya's, Buttermilk Pike exit off I 75. A local community favorite for probably 20 years.

 

For the chain Tex Mex type of restaurant, Moe's is very good, located in the Crestview Hills Town Center.

 

I concur with VoR on this one...and 5-10 mins away from the airport area hotels. Enjoy your stay and don't forget the TUMS!

Always loved Rio Grande in Newport. Lots of bang for your buck there, and very good food.

This.......Especially if you are staying near the airport. Take 275 towards and the exit towards Cincy. That lane ends into the Buttermilk Pike exit...turn right and Montoyas is in the little shopping area, the first right turn past the light.

 

Family type service and great prices.......

Been to all the El Rio Grande restaurants in NKY. Pretty good and some are better than others. I really like Chuy's in Florence. Went to Mi Tierra's twice. First time OK then second time not very good. La Pinata, again pretty good on my first visit, not good on my second.

Someone mentioned La Mexicana on monmouth street in Newport. Very authentic and very good hole in the wall. Avoid Don Pablos. IT was amazing in the late 90s but not too good anymore.

Gotta Disagree with Montoyas. Didn't like it at all. Rio Grande in Newport the place to go. There is one on Houston rd in Florence. Not quite as good. I also like Chuy's

We'll have to agree to disagree on Montoya's...but how on earth do you like Chuy's if you don't like Montoya's? That's like saying, "I really don't like Terry's Turf Club, but I like Applebee's."

I assume you're talking about the other Mexican place near Walmart in Ft Wright. La Pinata is not the name of the place anymore...it changed about 6 months ago. I haven't been there and can't comment on it's quality. I can't remember the new name of the place even though I drive by it nearly every day.

That's it. I had not known it's name had changed. I'm assuming it's under new management as well. Will need to stop by and give it a try.
