I am a Rocks fan through and through. But IF the best team didn't win, it was Ballard, not Trinity.

Trinity is disappoined of course, but that's life. You pick yourself up and keep it moving. They are already looking ahead to next season.

 

I know the seven seniors got most of the playing time this year, particularly at the end of the year. What/who is on the horizon for Trinity. I assume that Gabe Schmitt and Lucas Burkman will step up, but who else? Are you anticipating some new arrivals?

Owensboro will have a nice, shiny piece of jewelry to prove this thread otherwise...

It's just like any other tournament...it's all about matchups, stamina and luck. The so-called best teams don't always cut down the nets. That's why they play the games rather than just naming Trinity or whoever state champs in December.

 

I watched Trinity in person 3 times this season and at no time did I think they were the best team in the state. That being said, I also watched Owensboro early in the season and I would have never picked them to win it all.

 

That's just basketball, especially high school basketball. They got hot at the right time, had some favorable matchups, survived an overtime...that's why winning the Sweet Sixteen truly is a magical ride.

 

You must have been watching Trinity of Whitesville then as Louisville Trinity IMO was the best team this year. No they are not the state champs but I saw them a few more times than you did as well as prolly all of the top 15 schools and it was actually pretty clear. Alot of times it is about matchups and Hopkinsville and Owensboro benefited the most when Louisville Trinity did not win the 7th as its just a bad, bad matchup for those two.

 

The champs are decided by the greatest show on hardwood, the Sweet 16. Owensboro deserved to win, props to them.

Absolutely Owensboro was the best team in the state at the end of the year when it counts and with a 14.5 average winning margin in the tournament the best team is the state champion

If the 3 pointer by ND at the buzzer goes in last night and ND beats UK, I wonder how many of the UK fans on this thread will be saying that UK was not the best team in college hoops this year because they did not win the tournament...

 

In a single elimination tournament, the best team OFTEN does not win the tournament. I am NOT saying that Owensboro was or was not the best team in KY this year (never saw any of the top teams play) but that is just a fact. Was UCONN the best team in college hoops last year? Not even close...

I get what you are saying, but it doesn't matter if they were the best or not. They won the prize. In sales - the best sales rep does not always win the sale and the commissions, But the rep who wins the sale gets EVERYTHING and the other sales rep gets nothing. The only thing that matters is who gets the sale - nothing else (ethics etc aside).

 

So it does not matter if UConn was the best team or not.....they won the prize that ALL NCAA teams were shooting for!!! Nobody hangs a "We were the best team but didn't win the tournament" plaque in their trophy case.

Don't get me wrong...I like the idea of settling who is the best team on the floor. I am not a UK fan but will fully admit that UK is definitely the best college basketball team this year. In a 5 or 7 game series, nobody beats them. But in a one game scenario, so many things can happen that gives a chance for an inferior team to beat a superior team. It almost happened last night. You are right 4Runner about UCONN. They won and to the victor goes the spoils...

Yes, they are small. But of course we are all praying for growth spurts over the summer, LOL.

But seriously, these guys will be ready next season. The chemistry they have developed over the years is pretty awesome.

Well good luck, kids at that age do have growth spurts and I do agree that chemistry is a must have. They do have some big shoes to fill but I am sure they will be fine

I think that was Trinity's only loss. I was told that HC shot about 30 FT's and T shot about 4. Maybe T being small had a lot to do with it.
