Who Said It?

USA Today

"I don't do that MLB Network on-base percentage (stuff),'' (Player) told USA TODAY Sports. "I think that's messing up baseball. I think people now are just worried about getting paid and worrying about on-base percentage instead of just winning the game.

"That's the new thing now. I feel like all of these stats and all of these geeks upstairs, they're messing up baseball, they're just changing the game. It's all about on-base percentage. If you don't get on base, then you suck. That's basically what they're saying. People don't care about RBI or scoring runs, it's all about getting on base

Brandon Phillips?

I read the article, I for one think he's an idiot

I wouldn't call him an idiot. I think players are just so tired of all of the analytics and percentages. They just want to play ball, win, have huge numbers, and draw a huge check.

I'm no baseball statistical analytic, but that's just retarded.

"people don't care about RBI or scoring runs, it's all about getting on base." Well i'm no baseball player, but i assume you would have a very very hard time scoring runs if you are not on base.

His argument / opinion may have carried an ounce of water if his STATS weren't in a free-fall the last few years. Dude has had a chip on his shoulder for Votto and his contract since jump, this is just another example of said chip.

I wish BP and Votto would have a cage match in GABP with the winner going to L.A. and the loser going to Toronto. You can have them both...

I get why BP said it. Doesn't mean I agree with it. Gotta have both type of players on the team. Or even better, players who do both.

Phillips can say whatever he wants. But I think the guy is just the worst.

I think I understand where he's coming from but, JEEZ, think before you open your mouth.

Whats wrong with it. This team needs something to fire them up, maybe this will do it.

This combined with Latos' comments, they should have plenty of fuel for the season haha!

Which means we could see a 4-20 april record.

I just really don't get the hatred for Phillips. Aside from Votto, he's the most versatile hitter on the team. And the ONLY one, again besides Votto, who seems to come to plate with a plan depending on the situation at hand.

He's done well at 1,2,3,4,and 7 in the lineup. All while playing close to GG caliber defense.

I think BP is a more integral part of this teams success than many realize.
