No More Blackout Rule

Featured Replies

The owners voted today to get rid of the NFL Blackout policy for at least this year. I know Bengals' fans will be happy.

The Bengals may never sell out again.

That's great news...

...For Kroger, 5/3 Bank and the other corporate sponsors buy up thousands of tickets to get the blackouts lifted.

The Bengals may never sell out again.

That's controlled by the product Mikey puts on the field.

Which the product he has put on the field has been better than the majority of the NFL for five out of the past six seasons. Just the Cincinnati area as a whole is not a great sports like others. A lot of people who are Reds, Bengal fans, etc but not as many passionate fans like other areas where you see teams sell out in baseball, football, etc. most years even when the team may be struggling.

I'd go to plenty more games, but I just can't justify the cost to go to more than one a season, if I make that.

Makes it real hard to continue to buy season tickets.

Just sayin.

No Doubt! We can only hope this will drive tickets down to a more reasonable price. Upper level corners and End Zone should be no more than $20 tickets IMO.

Exactly!!! The NFL did the Bengals and other teams no favor by announcing this before the 2015 payments are due. I was seriously considering not renewing my tickets so this news make the decision real easy for me.

Now before guys get all bent out of shape and tell me I'm not a real fan let me explain. First off I can usually only make it to 4 or so games out of 10 dues to travel for business, etc and the fact that I am still required to pay full price for Pre Season games with NO chance of resale drives me nuts!

I'd be surprised if there is a significant drop in attendance because of this. The die hards have and always will pay to go. If the game isn't on TV, most aren't going to drop the money to go see it live. If the Bengals are good, people will buy tickets, if not, then they won't.

So now all the games will be on TV even if there are 20 people in the stands... Not a good business move, IMO.

@FTTS = Off topic - is that the latest championship ring in your avatar? I saw one on FB but it wasn't a very good pic.
