March 23, 201511 yr Wayne Turner off the top of my head from UK. Didn't all of the Florida seniors from last season go to at least the Sweet 16 every year? So that is 4 others. I think it might be more than you are thinking. Still a heck of an accomplishment. Wayne Turner was on a title team his freshman year. National runner-up his sophomore year. Title team his junior year. Elite 8 his senior year.
March 23, 201511 yr Slight correction: he's the first Cardinal to play in four consecutive Sweet 16s. Milt Wagner received a medical redshirt in 1984-85. He played on Sweet 16 teams at Louisville in 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1986. Three Final Fours and a title during that run, thankyouvettymuch.
March 23, 201511 yr This was one of the better games that I have seen U.L. play this season. UNI is a good basketball team. I was impressed with the Cards guard play in this one along with the defense. I had picked UNI to advance in this one but should've known that Pitino / NCAA = the Cards would play well.
March 23, 201511 yr Not surprising. I said it a few weeks ago when everyone was down on UL. Great defensive teams like that find ways to make runs in the tournament because their offense finds way to make just enough plays to win. I said sweet 16 or elite 8 however now with how it played out they may have a shot at the final four.
March 24, 201511 yr One of the best games of the year.. I swear I think Pitino could take a group of YMCA'ers and go to the sweet 16.
March 24, 201511 yr Q is going to be one Cardinal fans love by the time he's done at UofL. He is already well on his way. Imagine what the post season will be like for him, actually being THE guy at the point. As PP stated, he's only going to get better from here. No doubt.
March 24, 201511 yr One of the best games of the year.. I swear I think Pitino could take a group of YMCA'ers and go to the sweet 16. Preseason Top 10 right?
March 24, 201511 yr If memory serves UNC went from '80 to '94 going to at least the Sweet 16 every year. So add all those up. :thumb:
March 24, 201511 yr Yea they were preseason top 10 but only because of the name on their jersey and that's with Jones in the lineup. Louisville is not a very talented team. Two good players with a decent supporting cast.

Two good players with a decent supporting cast. It wasn't only because of the name on the jersey. Pre-season, they deserved the Top 10 ranking. It took a few games for everyone to realize that they didn't have any shooters, and their ranking suffered throughout the year because of it.

Everyone knew Rozier would take a leap with Russ Smith's touches now going elsewhere and Louisville had a returning All-American candidate in Harrell. What happened with the rotation being so limited and the shooting being so poor was a real surprise to me. Gill and Aaron being essentially benched for most of the season really surprised me. The lack of anything useful at the center position... did not surprise me.
March 24, 201511 yr Well coming in the new season I was worried about Louisville's depth. Never saw anything in Gill and Aaron looked frail from all the video's I watched on him. I did thought Johnson would be solid and had hoped he would see more playing time. He's looked alright in his limited minutes so far in the tournament. Center position was a weak spot everyone was talking about before the season started.
