My knowledge of some of these teams is pretty good and poor with others. I cant really argue with your rankings but not sure if Mf should be at #1 . Mf returns a ton at the skill positions including a QB that as a sophomore far exceeded expectations and a sophomore running back that is already becoming well known state wide. The receiver position is deep with only Bacon lost to graduation and Tucker will return after injury to replace. But Mf is going to be thin in the trenches and that is where DeSales has excelled in years past.

 

I would hesitate just entering into 2A to immediately put Mayfield at #1 as well but I think we may have less holes to fill looking at Desales roster...returning receiver corps is good, not sure that Mayfield can so easily compensate for Bacon leaving a 6'3" guy with about 50 catches for 850-900 or so yards, all across the middle of the field..not sure Mayfield has another one like that to just put in there this year to compensate for those yards which kept ALOT of TD drives alive for Mayfield. Running backs, were good, no change, likely better with more experience. Defense, as good, maybe better. O line...thin BUT Mayfield always figures that out and I'm sure they will this year again. QB..were good and could argue better with last year under his belt. Overall I like Mayfield chances again.

I don't know. Mayfield has a good group coming back with a freshmen QB, i think? I think with their success in 1-A and beating schools like McCracken, Paducah Tilghman, etc. You got to give them creadit with the size of their school.

 

Again, I know it's early and their coaches won't want to be #1 right now, but I think it good and their overall chances are good. The only thing, and I mentioned this earlier is I wouldn't be surprised if Murray wins district. They have a solid group back as well.

 

OC returns some. I think their OL and DL will be better then they have been in last two years. That's what they have been lacking here lately. Speed wise they will be in pretty good shape, especially on D. They lose some DB's, but the new starters played significantly last year.

 

Should be interesting.. I think Mayfield then Murray then OC will be the tops in Region 1.

Somerset is coming off an Awesome season (0-10)

 

Offseason issues need to be resolved for the betterment of the team and I think they have been addressed.

 

Pulaski County BOE is backing out of a long standing agreement that allowed up to around 200 county students to attend Somerset and any amount of Somerset students to attend Pulaski. Long term this could end up dropping Somerset to 1A by the time of the next realignment.

 

Somerset needs to get practice numbers back up if they want to get back to where they were a few years ago.

 

I think the Jumpers will be in the mix for the district title but beyond that I'm not sure until I see them on the field next fall.

Agreed, they were in most of those games and had a chance to win them. They really wore down in the second half, I think they either led at the half or took a quick lead in the third 5 or 6 times last year only to lose down the stretch.

I agree mex. I like next year's potential for NCC much more than what I thought of last year's. The development of the young QB should have NCC fans looking forward to next year. I put NCC at #4 preseason behind DeSales, Mayfield and CAL.
