The first I talked to in this area told me Mayfield hands down, but I had about 3 or 4 since say Caldwell, when I asked 1 of them he said Mayfield used to dominate us years ago now we have made a habit out of whipping them like hot apple butter." He said Mayfield is on the downslide, and Caldwell is the best around now. What classes are these 2, and who would you say is better. I just figured about 4 telling me Caldwell, and 1 saying Mayfield id go with what the 4 said.

If I were you Andy, I would load up Barn and Gomer and go watch Caldwell given that it is 20 minutes closer but with the loss of their MR KY football QB to graduation this year I suspect they will have some growing pains this coming season. If you truly want to see what has arguably been the best team in the vicinity the last several years it is Mayfield in KY but Henry Co, TN is about as close and they are I think a class 6A in TN and have been just about unbeatable lately winning several big class state titles lately

I prefer small school ball, so Mayfield sounds alittle better as long as its within an hour of confederate id be willing to make the drive. Lyon county unfortunately doesn't play football. I would say by numbers yes, North Carolina has more football teams and quality players then Kentucky. Now, with that being said, Highlands, St.X, Male and Trinity have been Nationally ranked forever. Either one of those teams can beat North Carolina's 4 best teams. Problem for KY schools is North Carolina has probably more then 4 teams that have been Nationally ranked in Top 25 the past 20 years.

No they cant beat North Carolinas 4 best teams not even close, My team was Shelby they are 2a have a lot of titles top 50 in the nation in all time wins, and could beat any 5a or smaller Kentucky team. The only team that would beat them is trinity, but it would be a close game. North Carolina even has a better college basketball team to.

Yes, Highlands can beat any team down there. Not saying those teams in NC couldn't beat Highlands. Just saying that T, X, and Highlands can do it.

I've seen the best that North Carolina had to offer when Independence played Elder up here. They had a 60 game winning streak or something like that and Elder snapped it during the Herbstreit. They were very good, but nothing out of the ordinary when you compare them to Trinity or the schools up here in Cincinnati.

You are clueless the only team that would beat Shelby is Trinity, and it would be close. A quick breakdown of your title winners last year. Mayfield would not be in the top 10 in 1a in NC. Desales wouldn't be in the top 15 in 2a. Belfry I don't even need to explain since yall have 1 a teams yourself better than them. there is no way they would compete in any class in NC. Highlands is about 3a size in NC and would get steamrolled by about 5 different teams. Pulaski county what a joke bet a horrible graves tem by 7, that got shut out by a bad 1a Mayfield. Trinity would get beat by a few 4a teams, like I said Shelby would give them a game, and they are 2a.

 

Usually the best teams are in the top class of the state, however, we have played TOP 2-A teams in states and have beaten them bad, but have gotten whipped too. I think the playing field in NC has more great high schools, but to say that KY has NONE or only ONE is very asinine. Trinity has beaten Elder on many occasions and Mexitucky just mentioned Independence, who is VERY good, got beat by the Elder team. Not to mention Elder has gotten beat by Highlands on numerous occasions. YES, Elder has beaten these two KY schools.

Watched them on Hudl.com. They are very good team, but to say they would beat T, X, Male, Highlands, I might put others on here. To say they would beat those teams on a year end bases is a joke. I also watched the other teams they played and they don't look very well coached or not good. I wasn't impressed on who they played except for Clinton in their state game. Then again they were just highlights for Shelby.

 

Sorry just not impressed. Doesn't mean they aren't a great team, but I did see some same numbers go both ways and those schools I mentioned have 0 going both ways.

Put a team like Mayfield, or Desales against Shelby, and Shelby would be up by 40 at half.
