I might agree with your premise, but if indeed he has emerged as a leading candidate that means he has pursued the job or he would not be in the driver's seat as what is being mentioned. So if he has taken the front seat, he has thought through accepting the position already. I just do not see someone pursuing a job only to turn it down if offered. The decision to take it has likely been made. I doubt it is any ploy to get more money or whatever else from Bardstown HS, that can happen in college or the pros, but not likely in HS jobs.

Why is everyone turning down Male? One of the most prestiegous schools in the state. Lots of resources and with the right coach would get just about all of the top traditional kids.

Has to be the strangest job opening in a long time...meaning the amount of rumors, the length of time and still haven't found a coach, etc.

 

My guess is with the transfer & recruiting culture that is so prevalent now in high school sports, that no one wants to go there because that's harder to do. But that's just simply a guess in the dark...

I also think you are a school like Male, and you offer the job to 4-5 different people and they say no, it makes coaches think they were not really wanted to beign with. An example would be going to Male, not being real good the next couple years, and one of the main guys they wanted, all of a sudden wants it now, it ousts the coach. Saw it happen, especially this time of year.

Second, those traditional kids that you are talking about also choose, Ballard and Trinity alot, so you lose those kids. Male doesnt allow alot of hardships since the new superintendent was turned down in getting rid of traditional schools, she made the ultimatum that traditional schools only get traditional kids. If you are losing your kids to other schools and not getting others, it ties your hands in Louisville. Just my opinion, could be wrong.

No its a great point. Three traditional kids ended up at Fern Creek. However those kids in the traditional program are kids that usually have parental influence. Those parents choose traditional and ultimately want their kids at Male or Butler. If you keep your kids you can win. Male was solid under Bryce Hibbard. He was able to keep his traditional kids.
