Walton-Verona 63 Dixie Heights 49

Recommended Posts

Davis out early with a twisted ankle she did return a few times but you could tell it was a problem. I've seen Walton play a couple of times this year and they look a lot better than they did earlier in the year. Could be a problem for someone in the tournament.

A few thoughts from the game....

Perhaps one of the better offensive executed games for the Bearcats in a while. They still missed DeZarn who is still out this week taking precaution from a mild concussion last week, however Walton has been playing interchangeable parts all season, so they have learned to swap people around and still be efficient.

Number 15 from Dixie is a very nice player. Small in stature but plays bigger with her physical play. A lot of heart and a lot of speed. She wasn't always able to finish, but she could sure get to the rim.

Dixie seemed to get things going very well in the second quarter. Hit some buckets on drives and hit some three's, but was not able to sustain it in the second half.

Led by Zoe Luebbe on the interior, Walton did a great job defending Tibbs, keeping her from getting position and clean looks, and helping from the week side when necessary.

Walton proved their 7th in the state free throw percentage, shooting 89.6 tonight as a team from the stripe.

It is great to see Alie Mills lighting it up from 3 land like she is. She is shooting with a lot of confidence right now which is tremendous for the Bearcats down the stretch and heading to the post season.

Tough loss for Dixie. I hope they put together a strong run heading into the Districts. That is terrible that some refs, (a small amount) feel the need to ruin games for these kids due to them just not knowing how to call a good close game. People can tell when a ref makes a bad call compared to 20 bad or missed calls. Good job to both teams for playing hard.
