Why is there not an investigation into this referee rather than an investigation into this players eligibility? That's my question...

 

There have been calls made like this for years. A few years ago, Clark beat Mason on a foul on a last second heave. Call should not be made but they do happen. Don't make him a bad ref. The Ref that made the call at Clark has done several State Tournament games.

See, there's the problem... Since he has done state tournament games, he he is no longer held to a standard simply because he has reffed a state tournament game. Refs should be penalized just as players are when they get a foul.... 5 fouls and you're out. Put a little more pressure and responsibility on the refs shoulders. Just by 2 cents....

A little more pressure and responsibility than what ? Without seeing the live game or tape, everything is just speculation on everyone's part. Angles are everything in this game, proximity to angles are just as important.

 

The one legitimate question I saw raised in this thread was: Why ? Why would the defensive player not play containment and not overplay and put yourself in a position where the "responsibility" lies within the officials angle and proximity.

 

I am patiently waiting for lawildcat to read this post and reply with the standard.....

Kids get caught up in the game and think they are going to lose if that shot goes in and they try to defend it a little to aggressive. Remember, they are young adults.

On the player eligibility, how many of these posts are based on the facts versus an "opinion" on another school getting an advantage by adding another player? Maybe the father has been trying for some time to get another job and everything just happpend at this time?

 

Back to the bad call....during the course of a game, I agree they let a lot of contact go uncalled...i call it having to be strong with the ball but as long as it's consistent on both sides. But, I have always felt that a defensive player contesting a end-of-quarter heave had better be very sure of not making contact...a foul is a foul and it is a very costly foul if called. Why contest a heave that closely under the situation? Would like to see video of it as well to make an unbiased opinion as well, but i also feel it is so much easier to ref a game sitting 20-ft off the court than it is to get the best view of a play/situaiton from on the court.

 

Did they change jobs from the Jan 31, when she played against Russell after Class A and Friday Feb. 6 when she played for Clark? Changing jobs is also a process. This stinks to high heaven and everyone knows it except Clark faithful who only cares they got a player who they trust to take the last shot at Bracken.

I believe she has been in the Scott Co. system at a previous time....

I hate to critize refs i really do but from my angle (and it was a good one) didnt appear to be any contact. Bracken had been half court trapping all game with out any trouble and to have that whisle at that point was terrible. Mostly because i feel it was called on anticapation that there would be contact

 

As for the transfer issue. The newest hear say in getting now is the parents are still residing in Bath CO. and Bath Co has filed with the KHSAA. So we shall see i suppose.

Jobs may be true but I know there is a process to go through and I have never seen it done in one week. KHSAA moves at a turtle pace rather than a Hare pace.

I am in no position to know what are facts or hearsay on here...and I do not know the rules on in-season transfers and filings with the KHSAA. I trust GRC has looked into the matter (or maybe the KHSAA has ruled on it already and no one on BGP knows the facts) and know they are playing an eligible player....maybe the father took the Toyota job three months ago and filed with the KHSAA on the player transfer and then now they have the approval decision. Do they require a non-Bath County address (and do they have one)...seems like a lot of ticked-off opinions being posted and not facts....if GRC plays an ineligible player...shame on them....if BGP nation opines hearsay and opinions....then shame on you. I dont know anyone within the KHSAA so I can't post any facts...

Going back to the bad call...I'd have to see it. Five times a game, I hear from the bleachers, fans from opposing teams say "that was a foul....." and "that wasn't a foul....".....talking about the same play. Who on here can take off their Blue-glasses or Red-glasses or Green-glasses (insert your team's color) and give an honest opinion of the play. Whether you are 4 feet from the basket or 50 feet, the players have to be smart enough to understand a situation. I understand that that type of contact may have been going on all game down in the paint. But a foul in the second quarter is still a foul with one second left.....I guess just glad this was a regular season game and not the districts or regional.

Clyde, I have told that a 8th grader does not have to go through KHSAA clearing even if they have played varsity at another school. Is this true. Do you have a link to the rules. I would like to clear this issue up. I value you knowledge. Thanks.
