Clyde, I have told that a 8th grader does not have to go through KHSAA clearing even if they have played varsity at another school. Is this true. Do you have a link to the rules. I would like to clear this issue up. I value you knowledge. Thanks.

Looking at this this link I say she is eligible IF the family moved into GRC's district PRIOR to her enrollment in the school.

 

The shocking thing to me and others is how fast this was apparently approved by the KHSAA and I will assume GRC was smart enough to know it's approved before playing her.

 

I didn't know , though, that you could request a waiver from the KHSAA BEFORE you moved. That's the only way I see the immediate playing at GRC having occurred.

The move was not made for athletic reasons.. Not only that, the kid was not held back for athletic reasons either. It's not your business to comment on. The parents took jobs that they felt were best for their family.

 

May I ask what kind of relationship you have with the family? Maybe it will be able to validate some of what you are saying. I see. You edited that from your origional post. :idunno: if you have some concrete evidence to show please by all means share with the class.

This was not for athletic reasons. Job and personal reasons and we will keep it that way. Bath Co will not be challenging this as Coach Graham and Coach Thomas are best of friends.

 

I hope we can wish this young lady the best and get back to the actual game.

Send all of the refs to Fort Campbell for a week and whip 'em into shape for the season. Require that they can all run a mile in under 12 minutes, pass a vision test, and pass a reflex test that determines how good their decision making is in a split second. If people aren't for that, I'm not sure if they truly care about the well-being of Kentucky girls basketball!

GRC has not been contacted by the KHSAA of papers and complaint being filed. Just hearsay.

Do not think the Bath County coach will take this lying down. When is the next GRC game and who do they play?

That post may have came across a little snarky on my point, and that was not my intention. However, I can easily see where it would raise a lot of questions. Good chance I will see someone in the program tomorrow and I will see what the word is about how it works with this case.

 

And this^, is exactly what is going on on here, a lot of questions being raised. And yet, some thinks it is ridiculous to do so.

 

While many are quick to call foul (without supporting evidence), I don't think the previously mentioned post that everything was approved ahead of time is out of the question. This is just for all the BGP'ers to discuss and hash out.

 

Honestly, who here that hasn't been a parent is not going to do what we think is best for the child. It may not fit a person mold or values, but that doesn't mean it is wrong. If there was an issue with eligibility, it will come out. I think it is safe to say that the phone lines are still glowing red with the amount of traffic going to the KHSAA on this subject.

 

The parents job status or location is irrelevant. For those that have concrete facts, keep bringing them for discussion.

In this case it had nothing to do with the move.

I guess my concern is this. How does an entire coaching staff (GRC's that is) take off work ( do they get personal days to watch and scout schools that are NOT on their schedule) and come to watch this kid in the All A State tourney (which GRC is not eligible to play in), sit with and talk with the girl's mother in the stands at the tourney and leave IMMEDIATELY after that game is played and two weeks later she shows up at GRC. I mean I get the whole middle school parameters debate BUT I mean how obvious does it have to be to everyone else. GREAT people involved in this whole scenario. Really good people but what right is right and what wrong is wrong. If Billy Hicks showed up tonight to watch two middle school players from Whitley County and they were playing Barbourville everyone would be ready to call the KHSAA in a heartbeat right?

 

 

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this^, but no way that anyone will convince me that the game of basketball does not enter into this equation to some capacity. I will have to respectfully agree to disagree with those who say it doesn't.

I am in no position to know what are facts or hearsay on here...and I do not know the rules on in-season transfers and filings with the KHSAA. I trust GRC has looked into the matter (or maybe the KHSAA has ruled on it already and no one on BGP knows the facts) and know they are playing an eligible player....maybe the father took the Toyota job three months ago and filed with the KHSAA on the player transfer and then now they have the approval decision. Do they require a non-Bath County address (and do they have one)...seems like a lot of ticked-off opinions being posted and not facts....if GRC plays an ineligible player...shame on them....if BGP nation opines hearsay and opinions....then shame on you. I dont know anyone within the KHSAA so I can't post any facts...

Going back to the bad call...I'd have to see it. Five times a game, I hear from the bleachers, fans from opposing teams say "that was a foul....." and "that wasn't a foul....".....talking about the same play. Who on here can take off their Blue-glasses or Red-glasses or Green-glasses (insert your team's color) and give an honest opinion of the play. Whether you are 4 feet from the basket or 50 feet, the players have to be smart enough to understand a situation. I understand that that type of contact may have been going on all game down in the paint. But a foul in the second quarter is still a foul with one second left.....I guess just glad this was a regular season game and not the districts or regional.

 

Transfer papers CANNOT be filed until a student is enrolled in that school, so no papers could be filed until she OFFICIALLY enrolled at GRC.
