Will UK Basketball be better next year?

:thumb: I agree with you, and that is what I tried to say in my post earlier! The reason I believe he said it was because we have alot of people on here that dont want to give Tubby any credit for that title and just say it was with Pitino's players. So if they believe that then cant being using that season when we had 10 losses to blame all on Tubby, because with their reasoning then it much be partly Pitino's fault then!

Like I don't believe that because I believe 98 Championship belongs to Tubby and that year with 10 losses belongs to Tubby because he was the one coaching those teams!

But that is the reason he brought that up I believe since there is so many people that dont give Tubby credit for the 98 season but would blame it all on Tubby for that 10 loss season, and THEY cant have it both ways, because if they believe it was Pitino's championship then it was Pitino's 10 loss season too!

Well said, FC!!

I try to hope but I also know alot about the team. Only thing that kept us in it last year was 1. Our decent back court and 2. Morris was allowed back. Back court is gone.. Morris is probably still around. Tubby's recruiting has really hurt this team any which way you look at it. 2003 class seniors this year and Perry is the only possible helper out of it maybe worst class in UK history. 2005 class might only have 1 man standing next year (Carter) who isn't looking to get any serious P.T. 2006 class seems decent but I don't think we have any immediate impact studs which we would have needed for this year to go well.

Chemistry is big but so is talent. Look at Ohio State who is in everyones top 5 preseason. Yes I am talking BASKETball. Matta got 4 top 25 kids. Will the chemistry work we don't know yet but these kids can flat out play. Even you know our recruiting is not as strong as it used to be.

Like I said in another thread start and just let it all hang out:

Bradley

Meeks/Jasp

Crawford

Stevenson

Morris

These kids are supposed to be some good ballers and have more talent then a Perry/Thomas and probably Bradley but I don't see him starting 2 frosh guards. Lets see how far this talent takes us. I hope far.

You might be right. The only one I could think of that was maybe comparable was the freshman class of '79 for UK.

While it was considered one of the best of that year, by Senior Night it wasn't.

Dwight Anderson left about 8 games into his Sophomore Season.

Clarance Tillman left after his Frosh Campaign.

Chuck Verderber was the lone recruit left on the '82 season. While UK won the SEC that year it was not because of him and the Cats also dropped that NCAA opener with Middle Tennesse that season.

I cant see it happening.

UK next year will be a good team. Good enough to win a National Championship, doubtful? Good enough to win the SEC, doubtful? Do we get enough hamburgers in the recruiting race? Not according to the experts

My thoughts are we wll be a much better team than we were the last 3 years and definitely go further in the the NCAA tournament. We have experience back at every position. The SEC conference will be tough. Kentucky could finish 3rd or 4th in the East. (I don't think that will happen)

I think a little bit of the recruiting problem was the possibilities of early jumps to the NBA. Tubby went after so-so recruits that wouldn't make that jump. The NBA changed the age to 19 recently. Tubby will adjust to the recruiting problem.

I think the starting line-up might be:

Bradley

Crawford

Perry

Morris

Orbzut

So you think we are going to the final four next year!!! Thats awesome I love the way you think! Because you said that next years team will do better and go further than we have the last 3 years, well we did go to the elite 8 a year ago, so that must mean you think we are going to the final four! Which is fine with me!

As for your starting lineup, I dont see any chance of Orbzut starting. If you notice Orbzuts minutes kept going down as the year went on, and if you saw he was completely benced the time the NCAA tournament came, and Shagari was the one who was playing. So I really dont think there is any chance he starts next year because if he got benched when it mattered the most this past year, then I dont see why you would think he would start next year! If either one Shagari or Orbzut were to start it would be Shag! But I dont think there is any chance either one of those guys start!

I agree. Bradley, Crawford, Morris, Perry, Thomas will probably start. Thomas is likely the first one to lose his starting position.

Bradley will lose it over Thomas. I don't think Thomas has it to begin with. Bradley and his New York gun slinging style (Mizzu game last year) won't hold up long. If he can prove he will not do stupid things with the ball also improve shot selection and pass it he will play more then. I rather have an over sized athletic guard like Meeks Or D Jas running it. They are more athletic and can attack the rim. Also might be better on D.

I have to disagree as of right now I would much rather have Bradley running the point over either one of the 3 freshman guards we have coming in. The whole young point guard play hasn't really been working well for us! I know Bradley has made dumb decisions sometimes coming off the bench cold. But now he will be in the game more and into the flow more and probably just know his role better! So I think he will do a very good job running the point for us next year, and it would be nice to have an actual point guard with a few years experience in college running the show again!

His gun slinging style can be harnessed, to a degree. He will do a good job, IMHO. He can pull up from 10-14 feet and shoot the mid-range jumper. That was one of Rondo's weak spots. I think Thomas will start the season at Power Forward because of experience and being a senior. That does not mean he is the most talented power forward. Just the one with the most experience.

I seen 2 or 3 games think you......On Tape.

Oh GT, you think you know it, and sometimes it makes me sick reading what you say, because like one poster said, you try so hard to make someone look bad, even if you dig stuff up from 15 years ago. It's gets old, but you paid your money so you have that right, It's just getting old.

Did you go watch these kids play games? Find them on the internet? If they are on the net, give me a link, I'd like to see it.

I'd love to see the same...

Sure Give me some time to hunt them down.

It's been a while since I watched them.

Someone made a comment about a new strength coach on page one. Didn't this guy take the fall for the rest of the coaching staff? He was Chuck Hayes' strength coach too.

If that's the case, Ricky gets the credit for 1998.

I'm sure enough people give it to him.

Porter is not in the top 150.

Just as comical as seeing two or three clips and claiming they will save the program...

I have read about them and where they are ranked and the experts have seen them play.
