Will UK Basketball be better next year?

Featured Replies

How are they rated 34, 35, 59 and not be in the top 150?

WoW......:argue:

How can one of the best basketball schools ever not even get one player every year in the top 20? The recruiting at KY is awful. This isn't a new thing either, since Tubby has been at UK there have been recruiting issues.

Lets see they have 4 recruits. One is ranked 34th, one is 35th, one is 59th, and the other is not in the top 150. Wow is right

Then use proper english when stating that Porter is not in the top 150. :sssh:

Never heard this when UK was like 85-16 for 3 seasons.

By UK's standards. ;)

You must not have been a member at Bluegrass Preps. Rondo, Morris, Bradley, and Crawford was big news because Tubby finally had a recruiting class.

Thought he brings a class in every year.

I really don't understand how a Kentucky fan can think that 10 losses, four times in 8 years is good, and top 100 recruits are good. It blows my mind.

Because I understand that UK will never Dominate like UK use to........

Every other college is getting better by the year. And everyone is catching UK now.

Not all kids wanna come to UK. Some wanna stay Home and Build a winning program for a school close to home.

They'll be better. They didn't come close to their potential this year.

So, while the potential of next year's team might not be as high, I think the actual product will be better. Rondo is the biggest talent loss, but it could actually help the team with the chemistry issue. Sparks and Moss, while they were good players, are far from irreplacable. I see no need in addressing Stockton and LeMaster.

I don't like the 10 loss thing, but I have no complaints at all about the incoming class. I could live with it on a consistent basis, maybe with a big time class sprinkled in every 4 years or so.

I've been saying for a couple years that Tubby needs to refresh his staff and get some younger more energetic asst's and a hot recruiter. It seems to me that's needed to better connect with the young players today. We may be "in the picture" with various recruits each year but it appears that we can't just depend on Tubby coming in at the last minute to close the deal all the time. We need the asst's/recruiter to have developed a bond or strong connection already so that it doesnt so much depend on Tubby's last push.

I don't think the Kentucky name is as dependable a sale as it used to be - everyone lives for today anymore. Generally speaking I think once players get here most develop a true love for UK. It's not just UK, I think its the case for all the name programs (except maybe for coach K I hate to admit).

I agree

Roy Williams too, but I agree that there is a lot of parity. However, parity or not Kentucky needs to improve dramatically in recruiting.

Because of the "english" comment I got. What did the "use" to do?

It was not that long ago that UK was great. If Bogans hadn't hurt his ankle I believe Tubby would have another final four. However, the talent they are recruiting now is not the talent level I expect UK to recruit.
