January 28, 201511 yr Author I couldn't disagree any more. If you're going to re-do something as shockingly perfect as Ghostbusters, don't try to recapture the original because it won't happen. Make it different and try something else. Paul Feig is a great writer and comedy director and I think he'll do great things here. I'm not opposed to a whole new cast at all. It definitely probably makes more sense. But this is why I think they are ruining a great thing and I don't blame on watching it: It looks horrible based on the cast. Not a fan of Wiig, Jones or McKinnon at all. McCarthy is pretty funny but seems to play the same character in every movie. I have no issue with an all-female cast, I actually think it's a clever way to reboot the movie. They just picked 4 incredibly dull, unfunny women. This is going to be a massive failure.

January 28, 201511 yr Bill Murray is the reason they are doing the all-women cast. He was the only one of the originals that didn't agree to make a new movie. I think he had problems with the script or something. And then one of them passed away. Harold Ramis also wrote the movies.

It all depends on what Feig has in mind for the story. A movie written for a cast whose average age is 41 (this cast) looks a lot different than one written for a cast of women who are on average 28 (the four names you've listed).

January 29, 201511 yr They could scarcely have picked a cast I'd less like to see. Kate McKinnon is funny on SNL. The laughs I've had for Wiig have been few and far between. (Side note - Bridesmaids was the most overrated piece of trash I've ever seen. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was after how hyped the movie was by critics and people I know. TERRIBLE.) Leslie Jones I haven't seen in enough yet. Her Weekend Update parts on SNL are fine, but she has been awful in all of her sketches. And Melissa McCarthy..... no. Just, no.
January 29, 201511 yr I don't care who they cast, I just can't see how they can try to remake this movie and expect it to be any good. Maybe I'm forgetting something but have any of the comdies that they have tried to remake / update ever been even close to as good as the original. Some movies deserve not to be remade, Fast Times, Caddyshack, etc.
January 29, 201511 yr Want to know a sure fire way to make sure that MJ doesn't watch the new Ghostbusters movie after initially being excited about it: New All-Female 'Ghostbusters' Cast Chosen - The Hollywood Reporter Won't be seeing this one and I think it's a travesty. I wasn't really looking forward to the new Ghostbusters anyway but I have to admit that this cast actually looks like they could be pretty funny and funnier than any other cast of men they could have gathered if you ask me, except if they tossed Kevin Hart in there, he is hilarious.

The first one was good, the sequels were all horrible and this one actually I bet will be better than the 2nd one.
