Coach Jeff Griffith is out at Boone

Featured Replies

I keep hearing this players out of position stuff, sounds like to me daddies mad cause little Bobby is playing guard instead of fullback or QB. And you are talking about a guy who had a top 5 defense in the state for 10 years in a row! Sounds like a guy that knows where to put players. Listen here is the problem at Boone Co. THE BOARD DOESNT CARE ABOUT FOOTBALL!!!!! Back in the day before all these new high schools the Central Office gave a crap. Please correct me if I am wrong about this. Once you get 2 or more high schools in the same system the school board is worried about giving everybody there fair share and sports goes on the back burner.

Please tell me who was out of position at Boone the last two years? The only team they should have beaten the last two years was Conner last season. Any other victory over that time period would have been an upset.

Boone County lacks speed and strength relative to the other NKY schools. coach Griffith had one offseason to try and develop the kids in the worst weight room in NKY. It's not getting better any time soon, I don't care who the coach is.

I think coach Griffith actually did do a good job. The defense at Boone was pretty good over the past 2 years and he is a defensive coach so to say he didn't improve the team is a lie. He didn't have the talent there. Boone County has been losing talent as more and more families moved out of Florence over the last 10 years. The addition of Cooper High School also depleted some of the talent at Boone.

They may have had 1 or 2 athletes the last 2 years and 1 of them tried to go elsewhere this past season and that alone had a huge impact on the team whether it be emotionally to the players that were there or what, but the entire A Floyd saga had to take a toll on not only the coach but the players who were forced to take someone back who didn't want to be there. The psyche of the team was affected.

I wish Coach Griffith the best where ever he ends up going.

You got to thank Coach Griffith for his time and effort here at Boone. Also wish him the best in his future jobs. What is the worst thing for the program is the job search and hiring is back in Mark Raleigh's hands.

I had said in a thread about ten months ago, that Jeff Tierney was not coming through those doors, Jeff Nelson was not coming through those doors, Jeff Watts was not coming through those doors.

Now, it appears Jeff Griffith will no longer be coming through those doors anymore.

What do the school boundary lines look like within the district?

How does a school that is as big as Boone County lack talent?

He did the best with what he had. Some may have played out of position ie. Aaron Floyd, but the kid tried to move to CovCath his senior year...... He is lucky to even be put back on the team. To punish Jeff for having morals....... No way. He worked with what he had, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. He would have done well getting input from his seniors, and being more flexible until "his" class of kids came in. But let's be honest, talent is not there any longer. You will have some shining points but if they don't move or find a way to transfer, you would be lucky. He is doing the best thing for himself and his wife. Sometimes this is what has to be done for others to realize where the program is.....

If I remember correctly, this senior class was better than all the other county schools entering high school.

That group had a lot of success as freshmen. Success at the freshman level is mostly a statement of talent. It must be noted that Thad Moss left after that freshman year so big talent loss there.

If your referring to the upcoming Senior class then no- Boone was not better than all the other county schools their Frosh year. Beechwood won the Frosh championship that year against a good bunch from Ryle who beat everyone but Beechwood that year. I'm pretty sure Cooper beat Boone's Frosh that year too- not sure about Conner.

Talking about this seasons senior class.

He should of been hired 2 years ago in my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing...
