Coach Jeff Griffith is out at Boone

Warren Central makes sense. If he wants to be a head coach next season it will probably have to be in the BG area. That's where he made a name for himself and is well respected. His head coaching resume ( 1 - 21 ) will keep him from serious consideration anywhere else.

Heard that his wife wanted to return to the BG area, for some time.

Good Guy but over his head in my opinion. Some are meant to be an assistant as opposed to the head coach. He had talent but had too many playing out of position. He was too concerned in becoming the players buddy instead of their leader/ coach. He never lit a fire under them. I'm sure he got tired of dealing with very aggravated parents and the apathy that has set in with the returning players.

I disagree with this. "Players buddy" is so subjective. He was considered a genious in BG but he comes here and the wheels fall off. Why? Do you think he all of a sudden became a bad coach? No.

Griff will be fine. Just fine.

Two tough years...

Guru, you have become the Jimmy Breslin of BGP in breaking stories!

Dropping like flies today!

Black Tuesday.

ha you don't know Coach Griffith if you think he was to busy being their friend. You have to have players, had some but it is 6A and you have to have a bunch

I know of a few players who quit because of problems w/ the coach, but acting like a buddy was not one of them. Probable somewhere opposite of that.

Boone's biggest problem would be talent level. They have some talented kids, but I feel the level is low compared to other schools in the district. I think Boone's only chance of having winning football programs again would be for the school district to change the layout of the district where Boone would have more area to pull from.

Boone County is not a good job. Essentially, it is an inner city school. Districting has made them irrelevant in football.

Obviously you did not know Coach Griffith,,, the man is a student of the game and KNOWS football. His two years were hampered by injuries and a serious lack of talent. If you recall the downturn started under Coach Thompson. Without talent,, no coach can put together a competitive team. Unfortunately the talent issue does not appear to be changing anytime soon. Whoever the next coach will be will find a very empty cupboard.

First off please don't compare this guy to Thompson who came off a Regional championship, and then lost a TON of seniors the next season and ended up a going 1-10. Griffith has done nothing in these past two seasons to improve the football team not saying he doesn't know football but i think he's better off with an all star roster like the one he had at Bowling green, than actually having to develop a team with less talent.

The one? Which one? He had about 10 defenses that all gave up under 10-15 points a game and rated top 3 in the state. You obviously don't know much about the state of the program at Boone.

Several Boone Co. followers have said that Boone Co. doesn't have the talent. If this is true, then what talent is there to develop? Not ever player is capable of being "developed.

The well is dry at Boone. They will annually compete with Conner for the worst 6a team in NKY.

The well is dry because no feeder system was developed. Facilities were never improved. The decline of Boone football was simultaneous with the development of feeder programs at Ryle and Cooper. Not hard to figure out.

I think there has been talent at Boone over the past few seasons, Granted not the type of talent that was going to win state but enough talent to be competitive, From what I seen (and I believe someone else touched on this) was there were far too many players out of position these past two seasons. Either way I wish him the best and for the sake of Boone Co I hope the new hire takes the positives from the youth teams the other high schools have put together over the past few years and either follows that road or creates a solid relationship with the BCPWFL and builds a solid feeder system for the future of Boone Co.
