January 4, 201511 yr As I have said before, I am not a Marvin fan, but for those who want him gone, I hope you are ready for someone totally unproven to take his place. The problem with this team more than anything is Dalton IMO. He is just not very good and can certainly not carry a team. AJ being out really hurt the Bengals today A LOT. The Colts could concentrate on the run as the Colts did not respect anyone on the Bengals receiving corps...and why should they when Birkhead is your second best option. I don't blame Marvin or Dalton for the loss today. They were totally overmatched...a mash unit going against a potential HOF QB. I do blame Marvin and Dalton for the playoff failures the past four years though. I just will not be as excited as a lot of other posters will be when he does leave because my guess is whoever replaces him will not do any better.
January 4, 201511 yr Who's next up for Bengals if Marvin is released The Bills old coach? What about Rex Ryan? He won with Mark Sanchez, I'm sure he could win with Dalton. Hire Marvin as GM because that is his greatest attribute, once mike gave him the reigns he's made some good moves.

The 2 sports teams are very similar in their inabilities to advance in playoff situations.
January 4, 201511 yr On the talent side of things, here are current Bengals who have been pro bowlers: Geno Atkins AJ Green Gresham Whitworth Dalton Burfict I don't know how that compares to other teams so I can't say if that is more or less talent than other teams have.
January 4, 201511 yr I'd take my chances with an "unproven" coach over a coach that has proven (over 12 seasons and different coordinators and different QB's) that he can't lead the team to a playoff victory. Again, as bad as Dalton has looked in the playoffs, it's no worse than Green has performed or the defense has performed, etc. That's a coaching issue. How else do you explain the Bengals being whipped in the 3rd qtr all the time. The other teams make coaching adjustments at the half and Marvin and his staff fail to answer those adjustments. Even the big Denver win... Manning torched them in the 3rd qtr and had it not started storming, who knows how many points he might have put up.

January 4, 201511 yr Best defensive player plays two whole games. Starting middle linebacker misses four. Starting right tackle misses half the year. Two out of the three top pass catchers Dont play all year. Green there best player misses four games and is hurt and doesn't really play in two more. Bernard misses a few games, Gresham misses a few. Every team has injuries. However the key injuries they had to there best players were huge and most teams wouldn't overcome those. So to still make the playoffs even with all that, shows there must be some talent to still make it. However even I said in the prediction thread there chances of winning today were slim with Green out, and then you add Gresham being out too. Even I saw this coming today. Even with injuries being a legit excuse. Marvin needs to be gone. He has had more than enough time to get them over the hump.

I also don't think Marvin is going anywhere unless HE wants to in the near future anyway. Agreed... It's a major gamble to think Brown would hire anyone any good... But it's just time to take the risk IMO.
